Glen View deserves better leadership: Zanu PF

THE residents of Glen View South have been neglected by the opposition for too long and ZANU PF is ready to win the parliamentary seat to improve people’s welfare, the ruling party’s Secretary for the Women’s League, Cde Mabel Chinomona, has said.

She said this in a speech read on her behalf by ZANU PF Secretary for Finance in the Women’s League Cde Tsitsi Mugabe at a rally in Glen View to drum up support for the party’s candidate, Cde Tsitsi Tawomhera.

She will contest with four other candidates in the by-election slated for April 12.

The seat fell vacant following the death of CCC’s legislator Mr Grandmore Hakata in January.

In her remarks, Cde Chinomona, who is also the Senate President, said: “Our people deserve better.

“Glen View South has been left behind for too long. We are going to light up our communities, bring clean water to every household and make sure our roads are passable and safe.

“Cde Tawomhera is a leader with the people at heart. Her vision aligns with the national drive for sustainable urban development.”

President Mnangagwa, she said, is committed to improving the livelihoods of people in Harare, particularly informal traders.

“The President has directed relevant ministries to move with urgency in ensuring that proper vending infrastructure is put in place,” she said.

“No Zimbabwean should conduct their business in unsafe or unsanitary conditions.

“President Mnangagwa wants every citizen to have security of tenure. Title deeds empower families and give them the dignity they deserve. This is a people-centred Government, and that’s what the Second Republic is all about.”

In her remarks, Cde Tawomhera outlined her vision to develop the constituency.

“I am one of your own and I will not leave Glen View to be left behind. I will walk with you as we embark on several projects to develop our area and uplift the standards of our people in line with the President’s Vision 2030,” she said.

“I will ensure that we instal solar energy systems, drill boreholes to improve access to clean water, clear and tar local roads and facilitate investment in the rehabilitation of public infrastructure.”

The rally also showcased hundreds of people who have benefitted from the Government and ZANU PF’s empowerment programmes.

These included 200 graduates from the Presidential First Aid Programme, 160 beneficiaries of a detergent production training scheme and over 400 people who undertook comprehensive training in poultry management.

Harare Metropolitan Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Charles Tawengwa, National Housing and Social Amenities Deputy Minister Yeukai Simbanegavi and several ZANU PF leaders from Harare province attended the rally.
