Source: I’ve no intention of being in Zanu PF central committee: Muduvuri –Newsday Zimbabwe
A ZANU PF National Consultative Assembly (NCA) member Jimaya Muduvuri says he has no intention of running for a position in the ruling party’s central committee.
The central committee is the principal organ of the congress and consists of 230 members drawn from Zanu PF’s 10 provincial structures.
It acts on behalf of congress when it is not in session and among other things implements policies, resolutions, directives, decisions and programmes enunciated by congress.
The central committee meets once in three months.
Reports last week indicated that Muduvuri was in the race for a central committee position, a charge he denied.
“I was a central committee member under Kadoma from 2002 to 2009 and I can’t be seen representing Sanyati again,” he told NewsDay.
“I’m not greedy politically. I’m comfortable with my current position as NCA member and happy with the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.”
Besides, Muduvuri said he was helping the party in a bigger way.
“I’m no longer interested in party positions because I now concentrate in helping the party in a bigger way.”
In Sanyati, Zanu PF is replacing Blessed Geza, who was expelled from the party for calling for the ouster of Mnangagwa.
Sources said the race was between Mines deputy minister Polite Kambamura and Kudakwashe Nduya.
Muduvuri is also the patron of Zimbabwe Amalgamated Council of Churches.
In 2019, Muduvuri, spearheaded the drive by churches to force the European Union and United States to ease sanctions on Zanu PF leadership.
He founded the Muduvuri Rehabilitation and Empowerment Foundation, a charity foundation that focuses on helping and empowering disabled members of society.
