Kamativi Mining Company (KMC) is driving community empowerment through a skills transfer programme that equips locals with expertise to foster economic growth.
Webster Masauso, a local, started off as a driver but was passionate about rigs.
Recognising his potential, KMC provided him with training, and he now operates and maintains rigs with precision.
Beyond mastering the skill, Masauso has taken on a mentorship role, training fellow community members.
“I am grateful to KMC for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to pursue my passion,” he said.
“I am proud to share my skills and contribute to my community’s growth.”
KMC’s mining department manager, Mr Xi Xuebing said the company’s skills transfer programme is part of its long-term commitment to sustainability.
“We empower locals with knowledge and skills to ensure a lasting legacy of progress.”
The company’s spokesperson, Mr Dumisani Chihoto said the benefits extend beyond individuals and has a ripple effect for generations to come.
“By investing in people, we are building a skilled workforce that will contribute to the long-term prosperity of Kamativi.”
Through technology transfer and capacity building, KMC is setting an example of responsible corporate citizenship, ensuring that mining benefits remain within the community while fostering long-term development.
