A 31-YEAR-OLD Mbembesi man, who ran amok last year destroying property, attacking villagers and stealing from them before threatening to stab a police officer with a spear if he dared to arrest him, has appeared in court.

Enock Unity Majola was not asked to plead when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Themba Chimiso facing 13 counts of malicious damage to property and robbery charges.

He was remanded in custody to February 28.

The complainants in the matter are Phillip Mdluli, Nobuhle Beauty Hadebe, Lisah Chisedzi, Samuel Nkala, Mthabisi Ndlovu, Mthokozisi Ndlovu, Memory Khabo, Blessed Nyathi, Masetu Majola, Jongani Dlamini, Felix Sibanda and Thabani Moyo.

The court heard that on January 2 last year at around 3am, Majola damaged 10 window panes belonging to Mdluli.

The accused also damaged a 50-watt solar panel and 11 window panels belonging to Hadebe on the same day.

On January 16, Majola ignored an instruction from a police officer, identified as Assistant Inspector Nharaunda, to surrender himself, and charged towards the police officer brandishing a spear.

The court was told that on the same day, police officers found Majola in possession of an Okapi knife.

The next day, Majola assaulted Chisedzi several times using a knobkerrie before charging towards Nkala and stealing a mobile phone and money.

On October 13, Majola hit Mthabisi with the back of an axe on the head and stole US$30 from him.

On November 7 at Focus Sports Bar, Battlefields Unity, the accused allegedly struck Mthokozisi with an axe on the head and stole his mobile phone.

Using the same modus operandi, Majola allegedly attacked several people before stealing from them.

The cases were reported to the police, leading to his arrest.
