GOVERNMENT has appointed Marondera chamber secretary Rinashe Nyamuzihwa as the substantive town clerk after emerging tops during the recent interviews.
He was shortlisted along other three candidates among them Murewa Rural District Council chief executive officer, Alois Gurajena.
In a letter dated March 21 addressed to Marondera mayor Simbarashe Nyahuye, the Local Government Board confirmed Nyamuzihwa’s appointment.
“After thorough deliberations and taking everything into account, the Local Government Board was satisfied that Rinashe Nyamuzihwa had a distinct edge above the other candidates in terms of experience and exposure,” the letter reads in part.
The letter also says the resolution to appoint Nyamuzihwa, who has an unenviable task of solving a myriad of service delivery challenges, was done in December last year after Marondera town went for two years without a substantive town clerk.
In July last year, government ordered the Marondera Municipality to re- advertise the town clerk’s post, despite having already shortlisted three candidates. The post fell vacant following the retirement of Josiah Musuwo who held the position for close to three decades.
