There has been an assassination attempt on the life of President Emmerson Mnangagwa this afernoon. Details are still sketchy. There have been several attempts on Mnangagwa’s life in the past – notably when he was Robert Mugabe’s vice president. The last attempt was late last year when he was poisoned at a rally in Gwanda, in Matabeleland South, and had to be rushed to hospital in South Africa for treatment.
His supporters accused a faction of Zanu (PF), known as the G40, led by Mugabe’s wife Grace.
