Bulawayo – President Emmerson Mnangagwa arrived in Bulawayo this morning aboard an Abu Dhabi registered Boeing 737 jetliner.

The Abu Dhabi registered Boeing 737 jet parked at Joshua Nkomo airport in Bulawayo today.

The hired VIP jet can be seen at the Joshua Nkomo airport just outside Bulawayo. The president prefers to use hired jets from Europe or the Middle East I stead of planes from the bankrupt state airline, Air Zimbabwe which has only one serviceable Boeing 767. The plane has become totally unreliable lately because of mechanical problems.

According to the jetliner’s owner’s website, the aircraft is described thus:

REGARDING THE AIR TRANSPORT FOR THE PRESIDENT. PLEASE REMEMBER NOT SO LONG AGO THE THEN CURRENT PRESIDENT WOULD FREQUENTLY CANCEL ALL TOURISTS OFF THE AIRCRAFT, OFTEN WITHOUT ANY NOTICE, SO HE COULD BE TAKEN TO SINGAPORE WITH HIS ENTOURAGE.
FROM A TOURISM POINT OF VIEW PLEASE NOTE: AIR ZIMBABWE HAS ONLY ONE OPERATIONAL AIRCRAFT, WHICH SERVICES OUR TOURISM AREAS. IF TOURISTS OR BUSINESSMEN WERE TO AGAIN BE THROWN OFF THIS ONE FLIGHT IT WQULD AGAIN BE DISASTEROUS FOR OUR TOURISM – AND BUSINESS MEETINGS. PERSONALLY I AM VERY GRATEFUL THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE AIRCRAFT FOR THE PRESIDENT AND ALL OFFICIALS GOING WITH HIM. TOURISTS CAN NOW BE ASSURED THAT THE FLIGHT THEY BOOKED IS THE ONE THEY WILL BE ON.

This doesn’t make economic sense to hire a jet costing $30,000.00 an hour. As much as we would want to make sure our president’s security is not compromised, but surely people should have come up with a better and last solution because this is not the only trip he is going to require same jet. Why not finding a final solution to acquire one jet once and for all for the president than hiring. Surely is this the best solution educated Zimbos would always go for? Off course it is expensive to buy one but that will be a once off cost and done.

But Mnangagwa personally owns the jet comrades – thats why he uses it – the ZW govt (us taxpayers in ZW) pays the money & ED recieves the money on the other side – in the EU – he is killing threes birds with one stone here comrades.
And you all thought ED was silly – he does not need EXchange control approval either – he just instructs his little servant Comrade Doctor John “Bond” Mangudya PhD ( Univ of CAribbean) to pay out these USD.
ZW voters keep voting ZANUPF so the circus keeps on rolling comrades

The President thinks he is a King and therefore deserves everything at the expense of his serfs. Until such a time as you get rid of your King, you will continue to be his serfs. Very simple.
