PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has declared vacant Gutu East and Insiza North constituencies following the expulsion and death of the incumbents.

Gutu North constituency was formerly held by Mr Benjamin Ganyiwa, who was expelled from Zanu PF for indiscipline and sowing seeds of divisions in the ruling party, while Insiza North was held by Cde Farai Taruvinga who died last month.

The President announced the vacancies after notification from Speaker of Parliament Advocate Jacob Mudenda on April 17, in Proclamation Number 3 of 2025 contained in Statutory Instrument 44A of 2025 published on Wednesday.

The proclamation was done in terms of provisions of the Constitution and the Electoral Act.

Nomination Courts for the constituencies will sit on May 15.

Zanu PF has since conducted primary elections to fill the vacancies in the two constituencies.

For Gutu East, former Gutu Rural District Ward 14 Councillor, Cde Zvarevashe Masvingise, will represent the ruling party in the by-election after he beat five other contenders in the primary election held last month.

In Insiza, 10 candidates will battle it out in primary elections scheduled for tomorrow for the ticket to represent the ruling party in the by-election.

The approved candidates are Dr Qhubani Moyo, Nkosana Mthunzi, Ernest Ncube, Lindelwe Ndlovu, Clever Moyo, Clever Sibanda, Nkosilomusa Langa, Delani Moyo, Davison Moyo and Sifiso Mpofu.

The by-elections for the two constituencies follow another one held in Glen View South last month which was won by Zanu PF’s Cde Tsitsi Tawomherwa.

The seat fell vacant following the death of CCC legislator Mr Grandmore Hakata in January.
