THOUSANDS are set to benefit from cash disbursements under the Presidential Revolving Fund for Midlands and Mashonaland West provinces in Kwekwe this week, it has been learnt.

Associations expected to receive their allocations include Children of War Veterans, Vendors for ED, Cross-Border Traders for ED, Hairdressers for ED and Pastors for ED.

Presidential special adviser on investments Dr Paul Tungwarara confirmed to The Sunday Mail that the funds were ready for distribution.

“Our next stop is Kwekwe, where we will be covering two provinces, Midlands and Mashonaland West. As directed by the President, we will be distributing the funds to those who qualify.”

Dr Tungwarara said they would also assess the implementation of projects so far to ensure that funds are being utilised effectively.

“The purpose of these provincial tours is to conduct thorough inspections and gain a first-hand understanding of the projects being undertaken. We want to assess their progress, evaluate their impact and ensure that the funds are being properly utilised and revolving as intended, meaning that the money is being reinvested to benefit more people over time.

“Our ultimate goal is to promote financial sustainability and broad-based empowerment by ensuring that these funds reach as many beneficiaries as possible. The President rolled out this fund with the understanding that small-scale entrepreneurs are the backbone of our economy and they need support.”

Vendors for ED national chairperson Cde Samora Chisvo, whose association recently received US$200 000 from the fund, underscored the importance of ensuring that the money is used effectively.

“Accountability and transparency are key to ensuring sustainable economic empowerment for beneficiaries.”

The association, Cde Chisvo said, is actively engaging councils to provide standardised workplaces for vendors.

“We want to see affordable, well-equipped workspaces and marketplaces for vendors, with proper sanitation and accessibility to water.

“Also, we are talking to local authorities to ensure vendors are not victimised. It is worrying that some councils have become notorious for victimising us.”

The launch in Kwekwe will be graced by Dr Tungwarara as the guest of honour, while Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Owen Ncube and top ZANU PF officials from the two provinces will also attend.
