THE Heritage-Based Education 5.0 model should be fully embraced as it seeks to revitalise the country’s education sector to produce graduates who are not only knowledgeable but also equipped with practical skills to drive economic growth, Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga has said.

He made the remarks yesterday at centenary celebrations of the Roman Catholic Church-run All Souls High School in Mutoko.

VP Chiwenga said Education 5.0 is an innovative educational framework that seeks to move beyond traditional learning methods by integrating innovation, entrepreneurship and critical thinking into the curriculum.

This, he said, will bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application for the benefit of both learners and society.

“As we look to the future, let us embrace the concept of the Heritage-Based Education 5.0, an educational framework that transcends traditional learning by incorporating innovation, entrepreneurship and the development of critical thinking skills,” said VP Chiwenga.

“The integration of these principles into our educational practices will prepare our students not only to contribute academically but also to contribute meaningfully to society and our nation at large.”

The Government, he said, is grateful for the role that the Church plays in shaping young minds and guiding the future of the nation.

“Education is the bedrock of our society, and it is through institutions like All Souls Mission that we cultivate the leaders, thinkers and innovators of tomorrow.

“Your unwavering dedication to nurturing young minds is commendable and aligns perfectly with our national vision, which aspires to create a prosperous and empowered upper middle-income society by 2030,” added VP Chiwenga.

“Today, we face dangerous cultural invasions that threaten to undermine the moral fabric of our community, such as the misuse of cyber material, hate speech, drug and substance abuse.

“The Government calls upon all youths to invest their knowledge into respectful service in society, following the example set by the missionaries who founded All Souls Mission a century ago.”

He also commissioned the new interactive science laboratory at the school, which helps learners to study using cutting-edge educational technology.

Further, he donated US$10 000 for the development of the school.

VP Chiwenga was accompanied by Senate President Mabel Chinomona, Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Aplonia Munzverengwi and other senior Government officials.

Roman Catholic Church Harare Archbishop Robert Ndlovu presided over the mass held as part of the centenary celebrations.
