BY JAIROS SAUNYAMA THE family of slain Murehwa minor Tapiwa Makore has claimed that the spirit of their deceased son recently visited their daughter, an incident they said shocked them.
Tapiwa, then seven, was killed for suspected ritual purposes in September 2020 in Nyamutumbu village, Murehwa.

His body was dismembered and had to be buried six months later without his head.
The boy’s uncle and namesake Tapiwa Makore (Snr) and his herdboy Tafadzwa Shamba are in remand prison over the gruesome murder.
Tapiwa’s father, Munyaradzi, told NewsDay that his four-year old daughter recently “went into a trance after his spirit visited her”.
“It happened recently, once. I was not around, but my wife and a relative witnessed it. She went into a trance or like someone sleeping, but her eyes were open. She appeared as if she was talking to someone,” Munyaradzi said.
“After some moments, she woke up and revealed that her late brother Tapiwa had appeared to her and they had a conversation.”
Munyaradzi said his daughter revealed that she saw the dismembered body of her brother.
The Makore family has been looking for their son’s missing head, in vain.
Shamba confessed that they killed the boy for ritual purposes as they wanted to boost their horticultural project in the same village.
In Shona culture, a murdered person is believed to avenge their own death.
In some instances, if they are missing, they can reveal their location through a relative.
The Makore family said justice had been delayed since the matter was still before the courts.
