NATIONAL cohesion and prosperity are hinged on the success of families and communities, and, therefore, the Government is always striving to foster stable families, Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga has said.

He made the remarks at the wedding of his niece Rutendo Mabika and her partner Michael Chauraya in Harare last night.

VP Chiwenga said stable families are essential to national development and called on the youth to prioritise building firm family bonds anchored in love, honesty and hard work.

The youth, he also said, should prioritise adding value to themselves in readiness to partaking in gainful and honest employment or enterprise.

He also spoke glowingly of his niece Rutendo, whom he described as a model of what parents and society expect.

“For some of us who have committed to work for this country, one of our wishes is the hope that young people will be involved in the affairs of the country’s governance and economic development for progress to occur,” said VP Chiwenga.

“These two are a testament to the passion we have as a Government, as a family and as parents, for our children and the youth not to be involved in vices like drug and substance abuse.

“The development of the country that we desire begins with progress of the family. The family is the nucleus and core of community and, consequently, national development.

“The national development we aspire to begins with the advancement of families. Families are the nucleus and core of our communities, serving as the essential building blocks for broader societal growth.

“When families thrive in their diverse capacities, they lay the groundwork for stronger communities and, ultimately, a more prosperous nation. Thus, for national development to be realised, we must prioritise the growth and well-being of our families.”

VP Chiwenga spoke glowingly of his niece.

“Rutendo has earned a reputation of making us proud as a family. She personifies a model youth that, as elders, we wish the rest of our youth folk should strive to be,” he added.

He said from what he heard, Michael is also a very disciplined and well-groomed young man.

“At a young age of 28, Michael has had the presence of mind, discipline and perseverance to excel in his studies and landed a good job at one of the leading financial institutions in the country,” he said.

“To the bride and groom, Rutendo and Michael, may your home be a sanctuary of peace, prosperity, purpose and laughter. May your love inspire others. And may your union be richly blessed.”

What a joke Chiwenga what a joke. What are you bandits doing for the rest of Zimbabwe. The question here is how many families has your regime destroyed. How many communities have perished and the list goes on. Let’s practice what we preach for a change instead of hollow meaningless words.
