ZANU PF First Secretary and President Cde Mnangagwa has elevated Cde Kudakwashe Tagwirei to the Politburo as secretary for Economic Affairs and Investment Promotion, adding a key party portfolio to his recent appointment as Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister.
The President also appointed former Gokwe-Nembudziya legislator Cde Justice Mayor Wadyajena to the party’s Central Committee, while Dr Obert Mpofu was reassigned to the party’s Council of Elders.
All the changes are with immediate effect. ZANU PF secretary for Information and Publicity Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa confirmed the appointments, saying they were made in accordance with the party’s constitution.
Cde Mutsvangwa said President Mnangagwa, in his capacity as the party’s First Secretary, made the appointments through Secretary-General Advocate Jacob Mudenda.
Sen Tagwirei has been assigned the redesignated Economic Affairs and Investment Promotion portfolio.
He was co-opted into the ZANU PF Central Committee under Harare Province in November last year before being elevated to the Senate in August following the expansion of the Upper House under the Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Act.
Earlier this month, he was also appointed Minister of Economic Development and Investment Promotion.
Meanwhile, Dr Mpofu, who previously served as ZANU PF secretary for Information, Communication and Technology, was the party’s secretary-general from December 2018 to September 2025.
He has also served as a Member of Parliament and Cabinet minister for several years.
Cde Wadyajena, the former Gokwe-Nembudziya legislator, has now been formally integrated into the party’s Central Committee.
