HARARE – A team of experts in Zimbabwe say they’ve found more than a quarter of a million errors on the new voters’ roll.

There are more than 5.6 million people registered to vote in elections on 30 July.

This independent team of auditors is said to include experts in data science, computer programming and statistics.

It says it found more than 250,000 errors or red-flagged entries on the new voter’s roll.

NewsDay quotes the report as saying the errors include voters with very similar names and identity numbers, registered to vote at different polling stations.

The findings will fuel speculation that the voters’ roll is compromised and could be manipulated during this month’s vote.

An official audit of the voters’ roll is still being done by local election watchdogs and their findings are expected to be released soon.
