A 41-YEAR-OLD Kuwadzana man fatally stabbed his colleague following an argument.
Terence Rupiya was not asked to plead to murder charges when he appeared before a Harare magistrate, who advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.
The court heard that on April 17, 2025, Rupiya met his friend Moran Kumire who was in the company of Mazvari Arnold at a Shebeen in Kuwadzana 7, Harare. The three started drinking beer together, and they ran out of money to buy more beer.
Rupiya allegedly decided to go and collect more money at his house in the neighbourhood.
He was accompanied by Arnold at his house, but this was done without Kamire’s consent.
After the two had left, Kumire then followed them, and upon arrival at Rupiya’s place, he entered his room.
While inside Rupiya’s room, an argument ensued over why Rupiya had disappeared with Kumire’s friend who was buying beer for them.
Kumire started accusing Rupiya of snatching his friend Arnold, who was buying beer for them.
The two started shouting at each other in the presence of Mazvari Anorid.
Rupiya got angry and ordered Kumire to leave his room.
He pushed him outside, but he resisted.
It is alleged that Rupiya picked a kitchen knife and stabbed Kumire once on the left side of his chest and also once on his right hand.
Arnold reportedly snatched the knife from Rupiya and called for help from neighbours.
However, when an ambulance was summoned to ferry him to hospital, Kumire was already dead.
A Police report was made at ZRP Kuwadzana, leading to Rupiya’s arrest in Whitecliff on the same day.
