VICE Presidents Dr Constantino Chiwenga and Dr Kembo Mohadi have commended the performance contract signing culture introduced by President Mnangagwa, describing it as a tangible embodiment of Government’s pledge to cultivate a results-oriented ethos within the public sector.
Speaking at yesterday’s performance evaluation and contract signing ceremony in Harare, VP Chiwenga, who delivered the introductory address, said the initiative fostered accountability, efficiency and excellence in service delivery, aligning with broader reforms championed by the Second Republic.
“The ceremony reflects Government’s firm commitment to entrenching a performance-driven culture anchored on accountability, efficiency and service excellence,” VP Chiwenga said.
The Vice President stressed the necessity of strengthening service delivery frameworks through strategic investments in human capital development.
“We must begin to identify and nurture talent from an early stage, guiding capable young Zimbabweans from our schools and universities towards careers in public service,” he said.
VP Chiwenga also advocated for enhanced career progression frameworks within the civil service, ensuring that dedicated public officers have clear pathways for professional growth.
He encouraged universities and colleges to prepare graduates with practical skills needed for national progress, calling for stronger collaboration between learning institutions and Government.
In his closing remarks, Vice President Mohadi said the performance contracts represented a collective demonstration to the people of Zimbabwe that Government stands ready to perform and deliver transformational results.
“By continuously supporting and recognising and rewarding excellence in our public sector, we have seen a great improvement in performance over the past five years and we need to keep the momentum,” VP Mohadi said.
“Let us all maintain the work culture going forward.”
VP Mohadi expressed gratitude to all performance contracting participants and winners of the best performance prize awards, acknowledging their contribution to improved public sector delivery.
“I would also like to express my gratitude to all the performance contracting participants and winners of the best performance prize awards,” he said.
He affirmed that under the Second Republic, hard work, dedication and commitment would not go unnoticed.
