A 25-year-old woman was electrocuted in unclear circumstances while she was putting some clothes on a washing line in Granary Phase 3 area in Zvimba District.

Police have since launched investigations into the case.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“On March 16, 2022, police in Harare recorded a case of sudden death by suspected electrocution in which a woman aged 25 was electrocuted while putting clothes on a washing line tied to a concrete electricity pole in Granary Phase 3, Zvimba District,” he said. “Investigations are underway.”

In another case, police are investigating circumstances surrounding the body of a 32-year-old Bikita man which was found lying near Chinhamo bus terminus with blood coming out from the mouth and nose on Wednesday.

The body was taken to Ndanga Hospital mortuary for post mortem.

Meanwhile, police have urged motorists to stop and render assistance were necessary following an accident.

“On March 16, 2022, police in Harare recorded a hit and run road traffic accident in which an unknown male adult was hit and run by an unknown motorist driving an unidentified vehicle at the intersection of Seke and George Roads,” Asst Comm Nyathi said.

He said the victim died on the spot and the body was taken to Chitungwiza Hospital mortuary.

In a related case, a 31-year-old man was hit and killed by an unknown motorist who was driving a Toyota Quantum (AEQ 3502) along Hadzinanhanga Road in Chitungwiza.

The motorist did not stop after the accident and the victim sustained some bruises on the knees and left arm.

He was referred to Chitungwiza Hospital for treatment.
