Police are investigating a case in which the bodies of a woman and her two children aged three and one week old were found floating in a dam in Marange, Mutare, as murder cases continue to increase countrywide.
The woman who was in a polygamous marriage was reported to have had a misunderstanding with her husband when the incident occurred on Wednesday.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.
“The ZRP is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 33-year-old woman and her two minor children aged one week and three years at Mayedzengwa Village, Marange on November 17, 2021.
“The woman who was in a polygamous relationship had a misunderstanding with her husband over infidelity on November 15, 2021. The three bodies were found floating in a local dam. Investigations are in progress,” he said.
The husband is currently assisting police with investigations.
Meanwhile, police in Matobo are investigating two cases of attempted murder where two people aged 28 and 17 were stabbed with a knife at Gwangwazila Village on November 15 at around midnight.
“The victims were coming from Jabula Shops when they were attacked with stones before the assailants stabbed both victims in the back and stomach. One of the victims sustained a deep cut and his intestines protruded,” Asst Comm Nyathi said.
Police have also confirmed the arrest of Oswell Zhou (41), Anengoni Zhou (29), Muchineripi Masarira (43) and Wilson Kuchivirika (32) in connection with the murder of Muneinashe Mangena (19) in Mberengwa on Tuesday.
The victim teamed up with Jemson Macheza (21) and Josalam Zhou Museva (20) to undertake some illegal mining activities at an unregistered gold mine belonging to the suspects.
The quartet attacked the victim and struck him with an axe on the head before he fell into a shaft and died.
Josalam Zhou Museva managed to escape while Jemson Mucheza was assaulted with logs all over his body.
Investigations are underway.
