CHINA through the Chinese Women Federation has donated laptops and smartphones to Zanu PF Women’s League to empower them technologically.

The laptops and smartphones will be distributed across the country’s 10 provinces to record data for women membership in the ruling party.

The handover ceremony was attended by Zanu PF Secretary for Women’s League, Cde Mabel Chinomona, Cde Monica Mutsvangwa who is the secretary for administration for the Women’s League and other senior party officials.

Speaking at the event, Madam Ambassador Ms Wang Wei who is also the chairlady of the Chinese Women Federation said the Women’s League was an active and strong force in Zimbabwe in the empowerment of women and children in their development and education.

“In my years in Zimbabwe I have also seen that the Government of Zimbabwe is also highly committed to this worthy cause and is doing a lot in this area, for example, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa is devoted the empowerment of women and children,” she said.

“Her Angel of Hope Foundation is doing a lot of work in protecting women and children amid this pandemic and helping them to get rid of poverty and bettering their lives. The Chinese government has also been doing quite a lot to help women and children in this country.

“We are ready to continue this good work and our devotion to this worthy cause so that our women and children can have a better life. We will continue to work with the Women’s League in this regard.”

Cde Chinomona said the donation will go a long way in recording the data for the Women’s League.

“We are so much excited to have received this donation from the Chinese Embassy because as Women’s League we have got a lot of members,” she said.

“We are going to use these computers to collect data so that we know how many women are supporting us, how many members are following us. We are going to send the others in the provinces so that this data is collected.

“With the Chinese Women Federation, we have been together for quite a long time. This friendship has not started now, it started a long time ago and now because of the Covid-19 pandemic it had stopped a bit, but from now onwards we are going to deepen this friendship,” Cde Chinomona said.
