ZANU PF members interested in contesting in the upcoming by-elections have been advised to submit their curriculum vitae to their respective provinces for consideration.

Primary elections will be conducted on January 20, 2022 after President Mnangagwa proclaimed March 26 as the date for by-elections to fill the 28 vacant National Assembly seats and 105 local authority polls across the country.

In a statement, National Political Commissar Cde Mike Bimha said the party was geared for the by-elections following the successful provincial elections held recently.

“Zanu PF wishes to advise all its party members that the party is going to participate in the upcoming by-elections scheduled to take place on March 26, 2022.

“In this regard, the party has crafted a roadmap indicating activities that it must implement before and after the nomination date set for January 26, 2022,” said Cde Bimha.

The party, he said, would go through a process of selecting candidates who would contest.

“As practice, the party goes through a process of selecting its candidates for any election. In view of this, all party members interested in contesting for either the vacant National Assembly or local authority seats, are invited to submit their CVs to their respective provinces from today January 12, 2022 up to 1600hours on January 14, 2022,” said Cde Bimha.

Provincial chairpersons, he said, would be required to submit the CVs to the Commissariat department at the party headquarters by 0011hours on Saturday, January 15.

Cde Bimha said the party would announce names of the successful or approved candidates on Tuesday January 18, 2022.

Only the approved candidates would contest in the party primary elections on January 20.

Zanu PF, Cde Bimha said, was taking the upcoming by-elections seriously and was planning for nothing less than total victory in both the National Assembly and the local authority polls.
