ZANU PF parliamentarians are working towards ensuring that the Constitutional Amendment Bill (No. 3) proceeds smoothly in the august House, aiming to fulfil the aspirations outlined in the party’s national conference resolutions.
The proposed amendment finds its roots in Resolution Number 1, which was endorsed during the 2024 and 2025 Zanu PF National People’s Conferences.
Zanu PF Chief Whip, Cde Pupurai Togarepi, said the Bill was about fulfilling the aspirations of the people.
He said as servants of the people, Zanu PF legislators will ensure that the desires of the general public are met.
“We have been tasked with advancing the agenda of the majority members of Zanu PF. This means that all our MPs are aligned with the directives set forth by the Zanu PF conference for representation in Parliament,” stated Cde Togarepi.
Cde Togarepi said legislators were in Parliament to represent the interests of the party.
“All our MPs are united in supporting the message from the Zanu PF conference. Therefore, we will support the amendment as directed,” said Cde Togarepi.
He further noted that the party’s two-thirds majority would be effectively utilised to address these constitutional issues.
“We want to assure the members that they are acting in accordance with the party’s mandate and terms of reference. With our two-thirds majority, we will honour the agreements made at the Bulawayo Conference which was held in 2024.
“While opposition political parties may have differing views, we, as representatives of Zanu PF, will work to persuade them to support our party’s position.
“In the past, we have successfully engaged them to seek their backing in Parliament, and we hope that some will choose to collaborate with us again,” he explained.
