Zanu PF deputy national youth secretary Kudzai Chipanga said the youth league will at the next politburo meeting recommend the expulsion of two suspended Zanu PF youth leaders — Godfrey Tsenengamu and Vengai Musengi — for allegedly denigrating President Robert Mugabe and his wife Grace.

“As the youth league, those two are no longer part of us, they are as good opposition,” he said.

“We are going to recommend their expulsion. The day we are going to have our next politburo meeting, their fate will be sealed.”

Tsenengamu (Mashonaland Central) and Musengi (Mashonaland West) were suspended together with Godwin Gomwe (Harare) on allegations of publicly denigrating Grace and other top leaders.

But after they were suspended, they teamed up and formed an organisation, Save Zanu PF Campaign, which they used to further attack Grace, particularly after her Chiweshe rally, where she accused Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa of causing divisions in the party.

The three have appeared in public several times castigating Grace, who is allegedly linked to the G40 faction in Zanu PF, which is reportedly fighting to block Mnangagwa from succeeding Mugabe.

The three were supposed to appear before a disciplinary committee chaired by State Security minister Kembo Mohadi on Monday.
“We no longer have space for unrepentant cadres,” Chipanga charged.

“Zanu PF is bigger than individuals. We are going to expel them and they can safely join Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-T or Tendai Biti’s People’s Democratic Party.

“They have failed to conduct themselves honourably even when they are serving suspensions. They have denigrated the President and his wife. We will show them that no one is untouchable in Zanu PF.”

Mugabe, while he was celebrating his 92nd birthday in Masvingo at the weekend, said the party would deal sternly with youths who do not respect their elders, particularly him, as the President of the party and his wife.

Tsenengamu was not reachable yesterday, while Gomwe was not answering his phone.
