THERE was a break in at Acting President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s offices at the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs last night. This is the fourth time this has happened at the same office.

In last night’s break in, the suspects drilled a ceiling panel to gain entry.

There were no indications as to whether anything was stolen.

Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs permanent secretary, Mrs Virginia Mabhiza said the break-in was discovered around 7am today when the Acting President came to work.

“We are not very sure of the motive whether it was to gain entry or to insert objects but this is what was done,” she said.

“So far we cannot confirm whether there was any access into the room. All we can say is that the ceiling was tampered with, with two very visible holes which were possibly drilled. We are not sure of the motive and we have not fully assessed what else could have been done in this office.”

Government immediately expressed its concern at the relentless attempts on Cde Mnangagwa’s Offices and his life.

Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Minister Christopher Mushowe said Government was worried by the developments.

“As Government we are concerned and whoever is responsible for this must understand that Government cannot allow this to continue to happen,” he said.

“The pattern suggests that the same perpetrators who did it last time who used that panel there used this panel. So they know the nature of the panels here.

“Government will do everything possible to make sure that this kind of mischief is arrested.”

Meanwhile several security departments and officials from the Radiation Protection Authority of Zimbabwe were this morning doing their investigations at the offices.
