Ex-minister targeted in new purges

ZANU PF has renewed its purge on party officials aligned to ousted vice president Joice Mujuru with Harare heavyweights on the firing line.

Former Lands deputy minister, Tendai Savanhu, ousted provincial chair, Amos Midzi among other members who were in the previous executive have been named for expulsion as the onslaught of suspected Mujuru allies continues unabated.

The provincial coordinating committee sat this week to recommend that Midzi, Savanhu, Christopher Chigumba,Torongo Torongo, Olivia Mususa join other members expelled from the party on allegations of working with Mujuru and others members of the faction to assassinate President Robert Mugabe.

In Mashonaland Central, the provincial coordinating committee sat and recommended that the national disciplinary committee chaired by vice president Phelekezela Mphoko looks into the behaviour of David Butau with a view to expel  him.

Butau is the MP for Mbire and accused of being a close associate of Mujuru through their venture, Dande holdings.

Next on the line is Mashonaland East where war veterans have already petitioned the provincial leadership to expel former chairman Ray Kaukonde on allegations of being part of a cabal that was plotting to dethrone Mugabe.

“We have looked at their cases and allegations levelled against them. It is very clear that these people are not Zanu PF and we want the politburo to expel them,” said Godwills Masimirembwa, Harare provincial chairman.

The province wants the provincial minister, Mirriam Chikukwa, former youth league secretary, Varaidzo Mupunga among other party activists be suspended for five years on similar charges.

“Those people whom we want suspended have committed the same offices but we are looking at the degree of involvement in the plot to remove President Robert Mugabe,” Masimirembwa said.

Mujuru was expelled from Zanu PF last week for numerous allegations which included, corruption, plot to remove the ageing leader and leading a faction within the party.

Although she has challenged the party leadership to prove the allegations, still she lost the deputy president post she has had for a decade.

If the provinces have their way, it means that they will be more by-elections as most of those targeted are sitting MPs.

“We have looked at their cases and allegations levelled against them. It is very clear that these people are not Zanu PF and we want the politburo to expel them,” said the once upon a time MUGABE pronounced corrupt Godwills Masimirembwa, now Harare provincial chairman. He covered his tracks so well that its next to impossible to nail him of malpractices and etc at ZMC and its subsidiaries.
