Grace, Mnangagwa Execs in rival meetings

Grace, Mnangagwa Execs in rival meetings – NewZimbabwe 18/03/2016

FIRST Lady Grace Mugabe’s G40 allies in the Midlands on Friday held a provincial coordinating committee meeting at Senga Training Centre in Gweru while Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa backers gathered in Mberengwa for the same meeting.

The G40 meeting was chaired by acting provincial chairperson, Tapiwa Matangaidze who was appointed by political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere after the suspension of Kizito Chivamba.

The meeting in Senga was graced by provincial affairs minister, Jason Machaya, provincial commissar, Makhosini Hlongwane, Shurugwi MP Anastancia Ndlovu, Zvishavane Runde MP and deputy mines minister, Fred Moyo and Kwekwe MP, Masango Matambanadzo.

Matangaidze said a vote of no confidence was passed on provincial deputy secretary for administration, Mayor Wadyajena, provincial spokesperson, Cornelius Mpereri and Zvishavane Ngezi MP John Holder.

He said the meeting in Mberengwa was unsanctioned and a defiance of the party.

“Those who met in Mberengwa have created their own party by holding a parallel meeting,’ Matangaidze said.

He said they were going to write to the national executive highlighting that they had a huge challenge, as a province, from people who defied the party.

“This meeting was on the (Zanu PF) calendar and everybody knew about it and those who chose to hold another meeting elsewhere created parallel structures,” he said.

Reports indicate that Mnangagwa allies including July Moyo, Jorum Gumbo, Mackenzie Ncube, Chivamba, Mpereri and Holder among others attended the Mberengwa meeting.

Mpereri was recently quoted saying Matangaidze had no authority to hold meetings as the provincial executive had passed a vote of no confidence in him.

Matangaidze was appointed acting Midlands chairman by Kasukuwere following the suspension of Mnangagwa ally, Chivamba.

But Mnangagwa allies have defied the appointment, instead passing their own vote of no confidence in him (Matangaidze).
