ZANU-PF Matabeleland North Province has endorsed President Mugabe as its Presidential candidate for 2018 elections as preparations for the upcoming party National People’s Conference gather momentum.

Speaking at the Matabeleland North inter-district conference held in Lupane yesterday, Zanu-PF Secretary for Finance who is also Macro Economic Planning and Investment Promotion Minister Cde Obert Mpofu, said the province was geared up for the December Conference to be held in Masvingo and remained resolute in its support of the party and President Mugabe as the candidate for the 2018 elections.

Cde Mpofu, who spoke at length on factionalism said Matabeleland North would deal ruthlessly with people who want to derail them in their principles and support of President Mugabe.

“In this province, we do not support factionalism as we have one leader, we are clear on those issues and that is the main resolution of this meeting. This is the province that remains resolute and has had no reshuffles at provincial level as we are organised. In other provinces  people hate each other and are fighting over positions but that is not our fight, let us not get involved but remain disciplined,” he said.

Cde Mpofu also spoke against tribalism and urged the province to put in place structures that will ensure victory in the 2018 elections. He said cells were the basic foundation of the party.

“As it is, Umguza is targeting over 20 000 votes in the next elections and we are guaranteed of getting them as we have proper structures and genuine membership as opposed to fake supporters like others. We always speak out against violence, harassment of voters as well as all ills that destabilise the electorate. You cannot win if you torment people or provoke them,” he said.

Meanwhile, party members expressed concern to their local leadership over the issues at Hwange Colliery saying a number of people employed at the mining company were suffering as the company was failing to pay salaries and was planning to sell houses to workers to off-set outstanding salaries.

“A number of our people will become destitute if that happens and we cannot allow the Colliery to fold or let people lose their jobs. The party has to step in,” said one party member.

Provincial chairman Cde Richard Moyo gave the provincial resolutions and commended party members for being organised.

He said efforts were in place to raise $50 000 needed for the December Conference. The meeting was also attended by Cde Thokozile Mathuthu, a member of the Politburo and Deputy Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services among other senior party members in the province.

With Obert being Minister of Mines for so long one would expect a mine in his own province to be a shining example of ZANU efficiency. Or maybe it is.

Chief thief Obert Mpofu is the only individual in the whole of Mat North who ‘endorses’ grandpa Mugabe. It’s funny how all his major building projects came to a grinding halt the day he was no longer in charge of the diamonds. What a pathetic a..e licker. He talks so much k…k and tells lies, like all Zanoids. As Chiangwa says: you can go to hell.
