PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe Friday took to the national television to call for calm and lambast war veterans minister Chris Mutsvangwa whom he blamed for Thursday’s clashes between the police and the former liberation war fighters.
Flanked by the two VPs, Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko, Mugabe said Mutsvangwa knows the correct channels to follow within the party and government but chose to invite war veterans for a meeting without permission to do so.
Mugabe said Zanu PF can ill afford the current squabbles because as the ruling party they had a duty to provide for the suffering masses who are facing hunger.
The veteran leader called for unity, adding that it didn’t matter which tribe one belonged to as all party members were “sons of the soil”.
