SABC News – A tough year for Zimbabwe

via SABC News – A tough year for Zimbabwe  20 December 2015  Shingai Nyoka

Widespread hunger caused by a crippling drought, and Cecil, now the world’s most famous lion, put Zimbabwe on the global map, but for the wrong reasons.

2015 started on a triumphant note for Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe who was elected Chairperson of the African Union (AU) just months after being elected chair of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The jubilation was marred however by the now famous fall, that intensified concerns about his state of health. Mugabe brushed these aside, and went on to address supporters for over an hour, during a lavish bash to mark his 91st birthday.

2015 also saw three cabinet reshuffles in nine months, and the appointment of more ministers – notably that of the President’s nephew, Patrick Zhuwao.

Drought cannot be controlled. It is very unfortunate. We must pray for rain.
