A HIGH-powered business delegation from Switzerland will this week visit Zimbabwe to explore investment opportunities existing in various sectors of the country’s economy.

The visit by the European country’s members of the Switzerland SME Umbrella organisation has been facilitated by the Association for Business in Zimbabwe (ABUZ).

ABUZ chief executive officer Dr Lucky Mlilo said the visiting Switzerland business executives will include the head of Swiss SME Umbrella organisation, former Austrian Economic Consul to Switzerland, corporate client manager of World Vision Switzerland, director International Programmes of World Vision Switzerland and four high profile businesspeople.

“We have arranged a business interactive meeting with them (Switzerland SME Umbrella) on Tuesday to discuss business opportunities and possible funding. I would like to urge the local business community to take advantage of this opportunity to meet these businesspeople and explore possible business partnerships that you can take advantage of.

“The visiting delegation is more of a fact finding mission to explore the investment opportunities in the country because Zimbabwe has been a victim of negative perception and bad publicity mostly portrayed by the international media. We shouldn’t be misled that the visitors are SMEs because how they classify SMEs in their country is different from us because a company which we see as big is regarded as small in Switzerland,” said Dr Mlilo.

What qualified local experts are meeting with these potential investors?
What are the main topics of discussion?
What sectors are going to be represented?
Is this only open to the current older generation that got us in the current Zimbabwe situation?
What Zimbaweans, young ,qualified and educated citizens are going to be present or even invited?
It is good to have all these delegations coming in but understand what their interests are and do not go and sell all the country’s resources without benefiting the local economy and the people. What the elders have done with China is a good EXAMPLE of What not to DO
