Toothless as ever

Apart from having a vast and unexplainable business empire of their own, the Mugabes have repeatedly abused public resources – million dollar birthday parties, multi-million dollar weddings and properties abroad – and it might be for that reason Mugabe has done nothing to arrest corruption among his underlings.

Presented with accusations against Joice, Mugabe was, as expected, impotent to act. Toothless as ever when confronted with graft, Mugabe has hidden behind a finger, declaring that the party can deal with corruption at the December congress.

If this was Grace’s intention when she set out on her tours then, indeed, the venture was, as they love to say on ZTV, a resounding success. Among those who registered their complaints about the rallies was Angeline Masuku (ex PF-Zapu). Though Zanu (PF) and PF Zapu merged in 1987, the differences between the two groups are still visible.

Reading the subtext, one can’t help get the feeling that ex members of PF Zapu seem less detached from the original principles of the liberation struggle. It was former VP Joshua Nkomo who intervened when elements in Zanu (PF) did their damndest to block the issuance of Econet’s operating license. It was another former PF Zapu man, Msika, who figuratively chained himself to the gate, attempting to stop the takeover of one of the country’s most productive farms – Kondozi.

Jabulani Sibanda, without even using euphemisms, has refused to be part of Grace’s campaign, stating that divisive slogans are chanted at the rallies and describing the first lady’s rise as a ‘bedroom coup.’ Sibanda also threatened to lead the former freedom fighters on a march to State House. The result, in a party where you are free to be corrupt, but cannot speak against the Mugabes, is that he has been deposed.

Can someone fix the website so we can post there rather than try through twitter or Facebook?

The liberation was merely a transfer of wealth from the whites to Mugabe and his family at the expense of all zimbabweans
