THE Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association yesterday warned senior Zanu-PF leaders they accused of fanning factionalism in the party that they risk facing the same fate as the ousted cabal led by former vice president and second secretary Dr Joice Mujuru.

Speaking at a Press conference in Harare yesterday, ZNLWVA elder Cde Victor Matemadanda accused some Politburo members of working with the British and Americans in pursuit of illegal regime change in Zimbabwe.

“The association is highly disturbed by the things going on within the party,” he said. “We are aware of the unholy alliance that is forming between the Americans and British on the one hand and some Politburo members on the other.

“These Politburo members have started selling out to imperialists on the promise that they will be given heaven on earth if they remove President Robert Mugabe from power.

“The so-called Group of Four or Six or any other number is hereby warned to stop whatever dreams they have that they can become prime ministers or presidents if they help to cause the ungovernability of Zimbabwe as a means for achieving regime change. We warn the Generation 40 that they will never come into power.”

Cde Matemadanda said the British and Americans wanted to re-invest in Zimbabwe and were hoping to do so by sponsoring some individuals to topple President Mugabe.

He accused some Cabinet ministers of deliberately misinterpreting President Mugabe’s remarks with regards to Kalangas.

“The President has a Kalanga in his family,” said Cde Matemadanda. “His step-mother was Kalanga and when his father died, the President looked after his step mother and all her children. Would he have done that if he hated Kalangas as portrayed in the media?

“We have seen the same group misinforming Vice President Mphoko about gamatox people in Manicaland. We would like to reiterate our earlier position that no one should take upon themselves to forgive people when they are not the aggrieved party.

“The gamatox transgressed against the President and it is the President’s singular decision to forgive or not forgive them. The right to forgive does not rest with presumptive Politburo appointees.”

Cde Matemadanda complained of some ministers whom he said had become the ultimate power in the nation.

He criticised Harare East by-election candidate Cde Terrence Mukupe saying his endorsement was not proper.

“The Politburo has some confused people,” he said.

“They are sponsoring candidates. While we do not have problems with the President appointing people to the Cabinet and Politburo, we want those appointed to remain true cadres of the revolution and not exhibit gross indiscipline.

“Young leaders who are appointed should consult before running everywhere with wrong ideas.

“They should give themselves time to learn rather than embarrass themselves and their seniors with such indiscipline. They need to know that their appointment does not make them superior to others.

“Hatidi kuti nyembe dzemusangano dziite sedzapihwa benzi rinoridza pembe parufu. We want sober leaders who must stop harbouring uncontrollable ambitions. Kure kuState House, dzikamai vakomana,” he said.
