The matter came to light yesterday at the Harare Civil Court when Daniel Mashayamombe made an application for a protection order against his son Abisha, whom he said had vowed to make his life miserable.

Daniel told the court that Abisha was in the habit of insulting and chasing him out of their family home simply because they support different political parties.

“Abisha hates me even though I am his biological father. He has threatened me with death several times,” Daniel said.

“Whenever elections are held, he paints MDC signs on my walls, yet he knows that I am a staunchy Zanu PF supporter.”

The court also heard Abisha uses his certificate in karate to intimidate his father.

“He threatened to break my neck saying he is well trained in karate,” he said.

In response to the allegations, Abisha said he was surprised to hear his father making far-fetched claims.

“I do not know what my father is talking about. He is actually the one troubling us because he recently married a second wife,” Abisha said.

Abisha also said he was not opposed to the order being granted.

Presiding magistrate Barbara Mateko ordered Abisha not to abuse his father in any way.

“I will grant an order that you respect your father. Do not insult or assault him or destroy his property,” she said.
