The victims, Lawrence Malibu and Onias Manyika, said they reported the incidents at Bindura Police Station under RRB2893036 and RRB2893035, respectively.

ZimPF Mashonaland Central interim provincial chairperson, Godfrey Chimombe, told NewsDay yesterday that the attacks occurred at Chiwaridzo Farm, Ward 7 in Bindura North constituency.

“This is sad. On Sunday at around 1pm, two of our youths, who were clad in party regalia, were severely beaten by some Zanu PF activists in Bindura North. Their crime is that they attended the provincial rally addressed by Mujuru,” he said.

“The Zanu PF youths, who numbered approximately 70, held a meeting after the assault, where they threatened to deal with, everyone who attended the ZimPF rally through torching their homes and beating them up. We reported the matter to the police and we pray that justice will be delivered. We took the victims to hospital, where they received medical attention. Zanu PF is scared and running out of ideas, this won’t work.”

During the mobilisation ahead of the weekend rally, about six ZimPF supporters had their homes torched, as suspected Zanu PF terror groups intimidated people not to attend the rally.

Meanwhile, former Energy minister Munacho Mutezo made his debut appearance at a ZimPF rally following his expulsion from the ruling Zanu PF on allegations of fanning factionalism. The former Chimanimani West legislator was seated in the VIP tent, just behind Mujuru.
