Biti launches law firm

via Biti launches law firm – DailyNews Live 19 NOVEMBER 2013

Tendai Biti, the former Finance minister has gone back to his law roots.

The fiery MDC secretary general has launched his law firm, just over five years after quitting Honey and Blackenberg.

Biti told the Daily News yesterday that he has with immediate effect resumed practice as a lawyer at his new firm, Tendai Biti Law.

“We intend to provide a niche service that recognises the 18 years that I had done at Honey and Blackenberg and the five years I did in charge of finance in government,” Biti told the Daily News.

“I have serious links with the international financial services and I have a rich knowledge of the law.

“Now that we have a new government, it is lawyers like us who will be testing the new Constitution. I felt it was time for me to make a start on my own. It’s going to be my home for a long time to come,” said Biti, speaking from his new offices in Milton Park.

Asked how he will balance his law firm duties and his party duties, Biti said he was a hard worker and would cope.

“I am still the secretary-general of the MDC,” he said.

“But I have just come back home to practice law. At least I am outside government where I can breathe fresh air. I have had so many options. I was offered incredible opportunities internationally but I opted to be home because the struggle is incomplete.”

“My law firm will give me a solid base to operate from.”

Well done Biti. Only People like Tsvangirai who does not have a career will hate you. Soon they will implicate you for various crimes. You have done well to keep quiet. Please don’t give these idiots, Chamisa included, to find a reason to implicate you of trump-up charges. Always remember talking is silver and silence is golden. WELL DONE MY BRO!!!!!

Perfect move bro! National leaders should not depend on govt or theft for a living. There are so many who have been in govt since 1980 and will never think of moving an inch, because they have no option in life. They think it is the nation’s fault that they cannot do anything else for themselves.

    Well done SG

You are an oasis in a desert devoid of principals and moral obligation. You are courageous; you are loved and appreciated. May a guiding light shine on you and protect you & TBL. May your achievements be recognized – if not by a world forum, by the people of Zimbambwe.

The move to the other field is fine , but remember you became more popular through your political career ,you had been a public figure , your move is questionable , something is coming behind , what exactly are you up to , i don’t think this is a smooth move Biti , you should be hiding something , watch out the nation will be shocked .From being the Minister of finance , how much did you divert to your own pocket , fine run away before they audit you , you are a very creative somebody , i respect you but i strongly question your move , hide the bomb but unfortunately it will explode , you had been working with them , did they teach you how to steal it , don’t spend all of it , reserve something for your bail they will turn their backs at you and lock you in .

Khabo, If I remember well Biti’s popularity did not start as a member of MDC. I came to know about the capabilities of Biti when he represented Margaret Dongo in the 90’s. Let’s leave out his participation in the students’ politics because that could rather be classified as hooliganism by some critics.

Khabo your comment is one that really confuses me. Biti has done something that most politicians in first world countries do but its a rarity in African politics. They are no longer in power, he has a family to feed like everyone else, so he has gone back to work. He is not sitting waiting for donor handouts. See thats how you end up being owned by other people because everyone that gives you a dollar before you are in power will expect something in the future. Like he said he could have gone anyway where in the world earned quardriple of what he will earn now, but he stayed. This man should be the MDC leader and thats nothing against Morgan.

Ok , you are just about to desert the party , i don’t agree with you handling the two jobs even if you manipulate us and say you a hard worker , you are just about to a dissident to MDC T , this ZUNDE might be having a post for you , yes you can uplift them , unfortunately a comrade , a really combrade will never divert his sight in the middle of the battle like you are just about to do it .

  • comment-avatar

@Tafunuka , i don’t deny your point , but how many lawyers do we have in our country today , are they popular to us ? , are they public figures to you today , its fine for you to congradute Biti , my own freedom of speech is that i still question Biti’s move ,look at things in a bigger picture , don’t just appreciate all the time , Biti’s move need to be audit or even investigated .

I respect him just as i respect Tsvangirayi because he remained level headed despite what has been going on in mdc after elections he can be a good leader if given the blessing by Tsvangirayi not to push Tsvangirayi out because mdc would never be the same again and will be the end of a formidable opposition in zimbabwe.

Very commendable that former ministers in the gnu have gone back to their businesses like the rest of us. No mentality of superiority. Former Minister of Health Dr Madzorera is back in Kwekwe at his surgery. So what thats life. My question sei vanhu veZanu vachirambira mupublic office as if they were anointed kufira pabasa? They are afraid of honest work 8 to 5. Lazy bunch.
