MDC-T President Morgan Tsvangirai will next week address a star rally that is open to all Zimbabweans in the UK, a senior party official said on Tuesday.

Elliot Pfebve, the MDC-T’s EU chief representative, said Tsvangirai will be visiting the UK for three days next week at which he will meet with party structures in Birmingham before he addresses the rally.

Pfebve told our weekly Speak Out Padare program that the rally will be held in Birmingham, a week on Saturday. Prior to that the party leader will have business engagements in London.

Last Saturday the MDC-T Birmingham branch staged a demonstration in the city that attracted a small number of protesters. Pfebve blamed the short notice given to Zimbabweans in the UK as a contributory factor for many people failing to make it.

‘You should understand also that following last year’s July elections, a lot of Zimbabweans disengaged from politics, disillusioned with the results they didn’t expect.

‘There is currently low morale among many Zimbabweans who had high expectations to see change. Some have chosen to stay away from political events to cool off, but make no mistake, they will be back,’ Pfebve said.

He said that Tsvangirai’s rally should attract many party activists as well as ordinary Zimbabweans wanting to hear news of what is happening in the country.

‘He has been on a countrywide tour and has held consultations with Zimbabweans from all walks of life. He is in a position to tell us about the political and economic events prevailing in the country since the elections. This is why after his engagment with party sturctures, he will address Zimbabweans irrespective of their political affiliations,’ added Pfebve.

The Diaspora have lost cnsiderable faith in MT/MDC mainly because of his percieved butt licking of Mugabe during the GNU and his agreement to withold the Diaspora the vote in the last election. He did this without any confrontation of MUGABE/ZANU. Stupid in the extreme
