War vets to be evicted as tantalite discovered

via War vets to be evicted as tantalite discovered | The Zimbabwean. 15 June 2014

Over 40 war veterans and their families who were allocated 40 hectare plots in Masvingo North ‘s Yotam farm during the height of the controversial land “reform” programme in 2000 are likely to lose their farmland after the discovery of tantalite.

Mining experts and government officials from the District Administrator’s office visited the farm recently and notified the occupants, but those affected told The Zimbabwean that they would not move an inch from their plots and would rather mine the precious mineral themselves .

“We already have offer letters,” said one of the war veterans. Tantalite is a heavy black mineral which is mostly used in the electronics industry. It is used for the manufacture of electronic capacitors for cell phones and laptop computer chips.

The Provincial Affairs Minister for Masvingo, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti, has been roped into the saga with the war veterans alleging that the company that has already started pegging mining claims in the area belongs to the him.

They allege that minister is trying to use his political office to move them off the land.

Bhasikiti demanded written questions before responding, while the Masvingo DA James Mazvidza confirmed the meeting and referred all questions to the ministry of mines.

Masvingo North legislator and Deputy Minister of Agriculture Davis Marapira said the war veterans should be given first preference to mine the tantalite. Yotam Farm was the first to be invaded by war veterans in Masvingo province during the 2000 land grab.

They can’t farm but now they say that they will mine themselves, as soon as minerals are discovered the ruling elite move in to steal it. Zimbabwe is a joke run by a bunch of thieves. They go on showing the world what they are

What the heck do useless numbskull war vets know about mining? The same goes for ZANU bigwigs.

The tantalite will be consumed and there will be nothing to show for it. A fool and his money are soon parted.

This is only the beggining. There will be relocating and vacating circus as some mineral or other is found at one farm or another. There will be villagers moved to pave way for this or that dodgy project with a fat greedy Minister behind it. Soon people will be living out of suitcases not knowing when their turn to move will come.
That now explains why people where told not to build permanent structures on these lands.

There shall be singing….This land is not my home …I’m just passing byyy…If Zimbabwe is not my home eee..then what shall I do-o?..Maybe I will jump into the river….

Hey Lucy…this is Zimbabwe. There is Chihuri and if people do not want to move we will make sure our riot police are ready. There is Chiwengwa also so that if Chihuri collapses before executing the moves, then the army will come in handy. Meanwhile the CIO will eliminate all those who want to lead our police against the ‘chefs’. In Zimbabwe since the government can change any rules anytime, we as zanu Pf will do what we want with minerals, land, companies and all. Do not worry about the loadsheddding…we have not only Generators but also massive solar systems. Potholes…aaah we have the best 4 x 4 vehicles you can imagine. Inadequate medicines; aaah we just fly to the best hospitals in the world. I hear you mentioned about poor education: kkkkkkk…Chihuri’s children and for all my ministers are getting education from abroad..Australia, Canada, Malasyia, USA, UK to name just a few. Remember if their name is Mudede, we just change it to Mudedi. If it’s Chihuri to Chihure and so forth and so on. We own this farm called Zimbabwe..nxaaaa…stop making noise.

The circus continues. Take now pay later. It does prove one thing though Zanus use by date has expired. The new Zimbabwe must target all the corrupt deals and give them back to the people of Zimbabwe. This can not be allowed to fester forever.

60 year olds swinging picks should be an interesting mining option. If they manage to stay and are not shifted off to some other patch of scrub land (read……unused previously commercial farming land)

what the big guns are doing is bad coz they were supposed to work towards keeping our economy strong not to build their empires,,its sad how the white farmers were evicted but something doesnt add up,if i am not mistaken this is the second farm where minerals have been discovered after the one in Marange..the Marange one is said to have some markers which worker saw but didnt know why.could it be the same with the Masvingo one?.My question is,did those farmer know about the minerals,,Marange is clear they knew coz the had marked the sites already..so if the had the nation at heart, why did they not come open about the mineral deposits before the controversial land reform programme,,i think they were selling some in small amount somehow to keep their standards of living not the majority..so the scenerio is the same with our fellow blacks, the only difference is that our guys are not as good as the white guy in hypocracy..the black guy are coming open in their deals which was a secret with the whites,.so vakafanana asi ava vazonyanyawo coz they are no trying to pick up the economy n they failed even keeping it stable like the whites

It is not fair. War vets deserve better than this. However they have no right to be lawless. Let us pray that all land in Zimbabwe doesn’t have minerals otherwise Gukurahundi will become a permanent feature.
