via Tsvangirai goes back to the people – DailyNews Live by Margaret Chinowaita 16 NOVEMBER 2013
Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai has hit Zimbabwe’s campaign trail again amid rising domestic tension and mounting economic problems.
Tsvangirai, whose movement has withdrawn a challenge to the July 31 election results and push for the government to hold a new presidential ballot, is due to address rallies in Harare Central, Harare North, Harare West and Mt Pleasant constituencies this coming week.
He has said the opposition would not participate in the audit of the vote because the Electoral Commission did not meet his demand for an examination of voter registers.
He has produced a voluminous dossier detailing electoral fraud.
On Wednesday, Tsvangirai visited Glen View and Budiriro and on Thursday he was in Highfield and Glen Norah.
“The (MDC) president has already visited 16 districts in Masvingo and now he is visiting Harare,” Tsvangirai’s spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka said. “He will travel to every district nationwide, engaging the people of Zimbabwe on the way forward.
“There is an overwhelming national concern that this election was stolen. People are updating the president on how it actually happened.
“In Gutu East, Chin’ai Village, the villagers said they did not find all their names on the voters’ register on the day of voting.”
Tsvangirai mounted in the July poll the strongest challenge Mugabe has faced since taking power from Britain in 1980.
He accuses the president of rigging the vote, criticisms echoed by the United States and European Union, which have tightened personal sanctions on Mugabe and his inner circle.
Tamborinyoka said there was a crisis of legitimacy which he said can only be resolved by a free, fair and credible election.
And the MDC leader predicted tougher times ahead for mineral-rich Zimbabwe saying Mugabe’s Zanu PF’s was incapable of governing this polarised nation and said its wealth of economic problems ultimately would force him out.
“People’s faith remains in the MDC, and their faith remains in the party leadership of Morgan Richard Tsvangirai,” Tamborinyoka said.
While Tsvangirai lost by a wide margin to Mugabe, he is again criss-crossing the country to rally supporters.
The campaign has been marked by personal insults as Tsvangirai insists Mugabe stole the vote, stealing the hope of millions of Zimbabweans.
COMMENTS
Those western countries didn’t monitor the vote did they, they simply listened to Tsvangerai propaganda.
Its time to stop and its time to imprison those engaged in economic sabotage.
John, you are spot on. Those who have time to waste can go and listen to what that brainless chap has to say. I think Tsvangirai and the rest of his MDC sell outs belong to jail. Actally, our cours rulled that our elections were free and fair yet these bafoons go about saying the elections were rigged. Is that not an acti of contempt of our courts? Someone should take these stupid imperialists’ pons to court.
There is two things i cant wait to hear very quick dual citzenship and diaspora vote.
The issue of dual citizenship is a thorn in Bobs side. AND WE ALL KNOW WHY.
That fool must just wait for 2018.
Morgan is a waste man his trying to destabilize Zimbabwe, just like he did, can see the new toll roads and the clean up of Byo which he failed.
Morgan must step amd lead by example.
Pass on the button to the next leader for the sake of people who are now suffering. Dont be like Mugabe with the handiyende sydrome.
John. Enjoy your illgotten zanu looting before we frogmarch you to the snakepit at our new chikurubi. The people will bring zanu to book ruthlessly.
l am pained with fools who claim that Tsvangirai is the one who is destabilising the country and its economy, people who are looting in the country are well known, and l wonder what form of stupidity and blindness it is that has come over some people. 2008 we been there and that was a lesson zimbabweans were taught, spending the whole night in ques to get your money from the bank.now you take the workthats been started by others just to put it to shame, Finance and IT in particular, that was the most selfish decision thats been done, haisisiri nguva yehondo ino, this is time for development, ZANU PF is filled with greed people who want everything to themselves, too much populist ideas, lying to people. if evrything was fine in Zimbabwe l dont think there was anybody who was going to be complaining about this whole thing. complaints mean something is not right, lets build the nation not our individual homesteads and empires using the people’s wealth. stop looting and stop ruling as if tichiri kuhondo, l am so much disgruntled with the way our country is being governed. police brutality and corruption, no one can stop that, thugs commit crimes and walk scotfree all in the name of ZANU PF. kurova vanhu if they speak out is what you are good at
Vamugabe munhu waMwari uye Tsvangirai munhu waMwari
Thanks for compiling your dossier about Zanu PF’s rigging machine. So what have you really achieved apart from petty ineffective name-calling?
I couldn’t have said it better Chimusoro, you are on the mark.
Ana John, if your cupboards are not full of skeletons, why would he fear monitors from the west? Wakadzirasa manje, Nikuv (from Israel) haina secret yainohwingira CIA. Nikuv actually send the rigging instructions to the West as is!
Tsvangirai said he has a “dossier” on how elections were rigged, but now people are updating him on what actually happened? So the “dossier’ was prepared without hearing from the people on the ground?
Or maybe the “dossier’ was ‘Made in England?’ Our Dear Tsvangson is simply parroting what the Masters have said without facts. Now he is going to the people to confirm if the Masters are correct in their prophecy. Better ask TB Joshua for divine intervention.
Some people keep on harping about the British. Their Economy is on the rise and guess who they are trading with. You guessed right THE CHINESE. Boris Johnson was in China recently to strengthen trade relations and the British economy is flooded with quality Chinese products unlike what they dump in Africa.Read any news paper in the UK and you will rarely find mention of Zimbabwe. The Chinese are now the middle man because the get raw materials from Africa for next to nothing. Until our leaders realize that it is each Man (country for itself) we are doomed to failure.
Time is ticking and mdc is busy consulting with people in Harare only. Zimbabwe is not Harare.MDC must wake up and work on all those issues that need to be put in place for a fair election sooner than later. These rallies have no purpose. It is already less that 5 years for the next elections. You dont need to have a rally to tell people that the economy is bad. People know and they can feel it. You are actualy wasting people time that can be used to look for the next meal
Tsvangirai is panicking, trying to seek relevance and diverting attention from the hot succession battle in his beleaguered party by making stupid noises. How could he and the copious legal minds in mdc be “frogmarched”into a flawed election without inspecting voters roll
I urge you Mr bTsvangirai to fight until the struggle is over, its not sactions or MDC which brings that country down, its about poor polices and corruption, look power cuts, they were suppose to upgrade kariba hydro-erectric power to pump 3000mega watts, the demand of electricity was on rise, number two look bursting pipes around the cities they never add those pipes, what do you expect if you got leader who dont think for tomorrow.Zimbabwe was under sactions the days of Smith also South-africa was on sactions for so many years but they never suffer like Zimbabweans, those who think its sactions and MDC who brings that country down they must go for study how the country must be governed.
I respect your eloquence Mr Martin, people should go learn how countries are governed, you do not use power to intimidate people, like what the lizy nkala girl/woman was saying, you dont put people in prison just because they have expressed how they feel, thats one thing ZANU PF has been doing for so many years, terrorising people for speaking out their minds, where is the democracy that you always preach about, humbavha neutsinye is what you thugs feed on. Top6 led by chiyangwa, chipangano led by savanhu, what for kuti mutishungurudze chete munyika yatinoti ndeyedu, stop putting your energy on intimidating people and develop the nation, give portfolios to people who deserve, vakadzidza kwete zvenyu zvekuti munhu anogona zvekubata pfuti momupa to lead education, vepfuti ngavaite zvepfuti mascholar oita zveschooling, keep fighting Tsvangirai we are together with you
MDC clearly has funds to waste. What new information is Tsvangirai giving to the people of Zimbabwe. If he had been on a tour to say goodbye and thank you for the support over the years that could have been noble but to go and ask for more support is to play with people’s minds. Morgen my dear friend your time is up. You have had your chance. You are actually even setting a bad example in the party by hanging on to a position when you have dismally failed to meet targets. Any good manager will tell you kuti if you set targets and fail to meet them then you are on your way out. We thank you for your courage in the last few years but your party needs new direction, new vision, new leadership otherwise tinochema til kingdom come.
Mucha, you just hit the nail on the head. He is now seeking confirmation for his externally fabricated false fabrication.
The man is not returning to the people, he never was with them in the first place preferring to be with the west. He is now for the first time going to the people after realizing that it’s the people who vote, its the people who elect and it’s the people who vote. But isn’t it too late for the last election and a bit too early for the next?
Morgan is becoming a national security threat, we continue to entertain him at great risk.
He is fighting for his survival in MDC nothing more, and fools wont see the actions of this evil man who is ready to sacrifice his own people so to grasp power.
In other countries, the opposition will seek to support its economy. The opposition will work to build the country and be voted on merit, but Morgan wants the economy to bleed. People to suffer so that he can win a protest vote.
This man is evil.
Collen Mackenzi uri imbwa yemunhu wanzwa.chimunhu chezanu.Leave Tsvangirai we want him as the MDC president and The Zimbabwes nxt President.the thing is tht Mugabe knows Mujuru and munangagwa are both weak to stand aigainst Tsvangirai.now bob wants to step down with Morgiza.zanu is busy leading the campaign to hve Morgiza replaced now forget it he is going no way Tsvangirai
Useless Tsvangirai meeting useless constituents, Zanu Pf having useless shivers, fartless sleepless nights. Whats this?
How some people bought Mugabe’s west imperialist chaff, you would believe they were immunized against the truth with Zanu pf steroids. Old age has lamed Mugabe. Its natural. If he doesn’t want to let go power, Tsvangirai would assist him in accordance with modern democratic processes which is canvasing people’s opinion hence their vote.
Mugabe has often abused our rural folks. How many of his urban political rejects have found a comfort vote in the villages?
TSVANGARAI HAS LOST THE BATTLE
Morgan is surrounded by leaders who most of them have secured seats in parliamet and local councils, they dont care about the plight of Zimbabweans.
Post mortem.
MDC unde current leadership it will not win elections again ,the finished, confused and outclassed
Way forward.
Potentially zimbabwe has huge opposition supporters that can win elections under new party with untainted leadership.
The new political home must craft vibrant pan africanist policies which redress the restorartion of land ,economic empowerement etc.The new party must avoid being sponsored by the west and america who are only interested with mineral resources in Africa
Conclusions
Can you remember in 2008 the electorate gave mdc formations 109 seats and Zanupf 98seats. Mdc formations with such political leverage with mandate they failed to take power
Forget about mdc is dead,in 2018 in wont be there.
Vanhu veZanu-pf, why don’t you concentrate in your own succession wars and leave MDC alone?
well are you not sick and tired of ZANU-PF being in power for 32 years…there is no democracy in Zimbabwe, and hearing the same trival over and over again by a senile OLD man who never promises the people anything he only holds on to power for fear being tried for the 20.000 ndbeles that were murdered in 1980’s
You should have seen him live on BBC FOCUS ON AFRICA presented by SOFIA INKENYA how he responded to a question [ Do you think you will become president of Zimbabwe?]He responded with YES,because he thinks these prophets are 100% right in their guess work.He is a disappointed vry unhappy guy who should have remained as a trade union guy not a politician. Our cause has been delayed for many years now.
As far as MDC is concerned, no amount of social network harassment by brain deficiency people(ddps) will divert our attention from our goal to liberate the country.People think think getting to power is like abcde, its not.The reason why SADC could not support us is because of numerous bilateral agreements which member states entered with Mugabe. Its sad that people cant see that Mugabe takes Zimbabwe as his personal property . Eve his stepson harasses innocent businessmen who worked hard to reach where they are.We will never listen to ZANU PF members masquerading as MDC members seeking democracy..We have won elections, twice and even two top generals had said let them rule and restrategise you ZANU.One had to escape death. So do not waffle saying hee Tsvangirai this n that,we are aware that a few radicals who benefited like to keep the status quo.We as MDC insists that the masses are not only important in voting, but they are the backbone of our society and therefore need to be afforded cheap living amenities, not just as instruments to get to power. If people survive on tree roots in Gwanda, it pains us and we want to see it ending. We insist that Zimbabwean children can not be subjected to cholera when someone orders drinking water from London, the same place you castigate in public.Down with selfish people
danisa tshawe…
“He is fighting for his survival in MDC nothing more, and fools wont see the actions of this evil man who is ready to sacrifice his own people so to grasp power.”
Substitute MDC for ZANU/PF and you have described Mugabe!
Lost the plot mr Morgan Tsvangirayi. Just wake up to reality, you and the many supporters that still have faith in your leadership.
the only thing morgan got wrong was to think mugabe was a fair person,,its easy to blame but what does morgan have that mugabe has not is the trust of the majority of zimbabweans.
Zanoids, please do not stick the boot into MT. He is your best asset. He forgot the people five years ago and will be happy if Mugabe gives him a little car. What Zanu fears is a new leader with real commitment.
Information on how ZANU PF would rig and actual rigging was done before during and after the election. Its a continuos process. Gathering more evidence and enlightening people on what was actually happening to them is not wrong at all.
Tsvangirai is fighting for the people, he has so many options that his life may be just silent and quiet. He has suffered not necessarily to line his pockets with $ but to help oridinary Zimbabwean put food on the table. He never said he will be president for life either for MDC or even Zimbabwe. If he wanted power so much during the crafting of the constitution, he would have allowed a clause like to retain position of PM to the second winner in the election.
Yawn, he is an option for MDC T. But Zim needs a sound MDC. He just isn’t democratic period, hence the birth of MDC T.
Not an option for a viable opposition!
You guys stop blaming Morgan.its no secret that he was robbed of a victory we all were.aleast he is trying to do something. what do you want him to do spend the whole day sitting on his ass?if there is anyone who ever tried to make a positive difference its him.the man deserves a round of applause.
well said Samaz, who stablised the economy for the first time, that’s right Tsvangirai…while Mugabe is in power there is never ever going to be any foreign investment, I believe quite a few business as also closed down unemployment growing even bigger since Mugabe once again stole the elections..if you think he is going to be bring anything drifferent to the table wake up guys and vote for some once much younger that will bring the country forward…While Mugbae is in power the international world does not want anything to do with him
