via 700 delegates expected at Victoria Falls SADC Summit – The Sunday Mail Jul 16, 2014

About 700 high level delegates are expected to attend the Sadc Heads of State and Government Summit in Victoria Falls next month. Foreign Affairs Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi told journalists in Harare today that Sadc Executive Secretary Dr Stergomena Lawrence Tax has already visited Zimbabwe twice to assess preparations and was satisfied.

Around 450 delegates are expected during the course of the Summit and 700 at the opening and closing sessions. Minister Mumbengegwi said:

“We are working closely with the Sadc secretariat in preparation for the Summit. Dr Tax has been here to consult. We are working very closely with the secretariat to make sure that everything is on track.

For Zimbabwe, this is a very important role that has been bestowed upon our President. It means that for the next three years Zimbabwe will be playing an important leadership role in Sadc.

Already we have been playing an important role as Deputy Chair by chairing meetings when the incumbent Chair, which is Malawi, has not been available. During our role as Chair from August this year to August next year, Zimbabwe will be the centre of activity for Sadc. From August 2015 to August 2016, we will continue to sit in the Sadc Troika as outgoing chair.”

The Summit, which will be held on August 17 and 18, will run under the theme: SADC Strategy for Economic Transformation: Leveraging the Region’s Diverse Resources for Sustainable Economic and Social Development through Beneficiation and Value Addition.

Agreed. If they must hold this summit, why not have it in Harare and let the delegates stay in the private mansions of the Zim politicians?

A non-event and a horrific waste of money and time. Hopefully will push zanupf down the tubes a little quicker as they will have to find some serious money – which we all know they/we have not got!!

Who are the SADC? They are the successors of the SADCC. The SADCC was originated by the Russian KGB to provide co-ordination for the front line states in opposing the then South African Government. The idea was to end the front line states dependence on SA trade routes and SA services and products and promote interstate trading. And, as a consequence, further isolate the SA Regime. The organisation was ineffective and Russia pulled out after discovering that each and every member state of the SADCC had secret trade deals with South Africa.

While munching caviar and champaigne and laughing at their idiotic supporters the sadc will announce their commitment to eradicating poverty(yet again) in southern africa cleaning up corruption(yet again) and creating a free trade agreement between african countries(yet again).

Johnnie Walker Black will be consumed like water, as the fat cats pat each other on the backs for achieving nothing. Mugabe will sprout his normal anti western carbage as idiots applaud him. What a farce and what a waste of money. There should be a conference to hold Mugabe and his hoodlums accountable for destroying what was once the most infrastructurely advanced country in Southern Africa as well as a massive supplier of food. Now like a rotting donkey. Talk about fiddling as Rome burns!

There is nothing to write home about, the chairmanship of SADC is on rotational basis and it happens that its Zimbabwe’s turn when we are broke financially and the country is in auto-pilot mode with no leader to guide us out of this economic mess.

700 fat ,greedy, plunderers of Africa dressed in everything Western right down to their underwear, gathering to stuff their faces with food and gobble millions in allowances from their cash strapped governments and people. They will shuffle a few worthless papers and scribble illegible worthless signatures then trot off back to the dusty streets of their home countries to fleece off their people some more.

Why are they spending millions of dollars on a SADC conference that will not add value to an ordinary man,s life. The same govenment thats splashing millions on this conference is the same govenment thats failling to compensate displaced Tokwe Mukosi victims just $9million in order to relocate them. The way this Zanu pf administration ranks its priorities leaves a lot to be desired.
