Go on and fire me: Mliswa dares

ZANU PF former Mashonaland West provincial chairman Temba Mliswa has dared his political enemies within the ruling party to go for the jugular and expel him forthwith instead of blackmailing him and dangling an axe over his head.

Mliswa, who lost his chairmanship in the run-up to the Zanu PF congress last December over allegations of fanning factionalism, told NewsDay yesterday that he was now “sick and tired” of being told that the axe was hanging over his head.

“I can’t be continuously threatened with expulsion if they want to fire me. I’m ready for expulsion, the sooner the better,” Mliswa said.

The embattled Hurungwe West MP faces imminent expulsion from the party after the provincial executive sent a request to the national disciplinary committee seeking his ouster over a litany of charges which include his alleged links to ousted former Vice-President Joice Mujuru.

Mliswa claimed that the decision to expel him was concocted by a few provincial executive committee members who viewed him as a threat to their party posts.

He singled out acting chairman Ziyambi Ziyambi for spearheading the campaign to have him booted out of the party and Parliament.

“I know there are some people like Ziyambi whom I beat in his home area of Zowa who want me expelled,” said Mliswa.

“As long as they don’t kill me, I will contest against them in the next elections and even win. I don’t take on a fight that I lose.”

Mliswa challenged Zanu PF officials to “concentrate on fixing the economy which is bleeding and to evaluate the progress made so far on ZimAsset rather than fighting a fallen man”.

Ziyambi could not be reached for comment yesterday.

I admire him for his bravery, not the rest of them who are quiet hoping that miracles will happen and get their former positions back.

Let them kill each other. Who cares, we dont. Just give us a better government. This party has brought shame , embarassment to Zimbabwe and Africa as a whole. What next.
