In a statement, Zimstat director-general Mutasa Dzinotizei said: “This exercise commences in July 2015 and is expected to last until December 2015.The ZDOHS (Zimbabwe Demographic and Health Survey) produces the much-needed reliable data on benchmark demographic and health indicators. This data is essential for effective planning and carrying out of interventions in the field of demography and health by the government, Ministry of Health and Child Care, development agencies, public and private organisations, international agencies and other end users of this data.”

The information to be collected through the study includes reproduction, contraception and fertility preferences, marriage and sexual activity, participation in health care, HIV and Aids, including population-based testing, domestic violence, infant, child, adult and maternal mortality, maternal and child health care, children’s immunisation, cervical cancer screening, birth registration and other health-related issues.
