The Zanu-PF Mashonaland West provincial executive has passed a vote of no confidence in vice chairman Cde Keith Guzah and secretary for administration Cde Simbarashe Ziyambi for alleged dishonesty and fraud. The motion was raised at the Provincial Executive Committee meeting in Chinhoyi on Thursday. Reading the petition, Youth League vice chairman Cde Joseph Nyariri, said Cde Guzah and Cde Simbarashe Ziyambi connived to pass a vote of no confidence in the then acting chairman Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi without following proper procedures.
“We, the undersigned, constituting the Mashonaland West Provincial Executive members, passed a vote of no confidence in Cdes Keith Guzah and Simbarashe Ziyambi on the 6th of August 2015,” reads the petition.
“This is being done in terms of Article 28(265) of the party constitution. The affirmation and confirmation of the majority of the Provincial Executive Committee members is per our signatures appended hereto.”
They are accused of clandestinely passing a vote of no confidence in Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi using signatures of non-executive members.
They contend that the said meeting where the motion to pass a vote of no confidence in Home Affairs Deputy Minister Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi never took place.
Cde Guzah was vice chairman at the time, while Cde Simbarashe Ziyambi held his position as secretary for administration.
Asked for comment, Cde Simbarashe Ziyambi said the motion was null and void.
“This is null and void. This is a circus and will not sail through. The national commissar wrote a letter confirming us as the provincial executive,” he said.
Cde Guzah could not comment.
A letter from the political commissar Cde Saviour Kasukuwere was read in the PEC meeting confirming the appointment of Cde Ephraim Chengeta as the interim chairman for Mashonaland West province.
The letter stated that all other positions remain the same.
Home Affairs deputy minister Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi said the letter was silent on his fate after being booted out of the executive.
Meanwhile, the PEC meeting discussed modalities of undertaking the party restructuring exercise which starts in Kariba district on Thursday next week.
