It’s economy stupid! Mujuru tells Mugabe

OUSTED vice president Joice Mujuru has challenged President Robert Mugabe to focus on the crumbling economy and stop “fantasizing on imaginary plots to kill or dethrone him”.

Mujuru, in an interview after being fired from Zanu PF by the ruling party, said “it’s a shame and surprising that the politburo spent the long hours discussing about me and less in the economy.

“It shows that they care less on the welfare of the people who voted them into power but more concerned about protecting their positions.”

She added: “I have nothing to fight Baba Mugabe or anyone in that politburo but I am concerned with the way they are behaving.

“They sit to accuse my late husband that he wanted to topple things; they should have asked him then and not take advantage that he is now dead. To me it’s a sign of desperation and unAfrican to attack a dead person.

“Given circumstances under which General Solomon Mujuru met his death which are still to be explained, it’s very sad that they are dragging his name in the mud unnecessary on malicious, hateful allegations which they have no proof to.”

Where was Mugabe when I was allegedly destroying parastarals? … Joice Mujuru

The former VP for a decade was expelled from Zanu PF on allegations of plotting to assassinate Mugabe and corruption.

She and her late husband, the decorated army commander who died in a mysterious inferno in 2011, were named as key party members who were plotting to dethrone Mugabe and install the deputy as leader of both government and party.

“They say I contributed to the collapse of ZBC and other institutions; was I the CEO of these institutions? Where was the president when all this was done?

“All state institutions were under the supervision of the office of the president and cabinet so when one says I destroyed them it means that the president negated his duties which I would not want to believe.

“This is just malice being peddled by vultures, vanhu vasina zvekuita. The politburo should spend time discussing about the welfare of the people and even the whereabouts of activist, Itai Dzamara whose family I share their grief with.

“Given the prevailing economic hardships and looming food crisis, the PBs silence on these matters is deafening,” she said.

Asked if she was forming the party, Mujuru said “Ini handizingike mu-original Zanu PF”.

And please remember Joyce that the critical issue in trying to salvage this country’s economy is to stop the corruption. No sane long term investors are going to look at us until we get this scourge out. Sure, you will get your fly by nights who will always try to get in here including China and Russia, but they are easily dealt with. So lets get some real progress happening
