Let’s help Grace to destroy Zanu PF evil

via Let’s help Grace to destroy Zanu PF evil – NewsDay Zimbabwe October 26, 2014

The power of the people must liberate our politics.

I have finally finished reading Tony Blair’s book A Journey and the profound conclusion in his book is that; the power of politics should not be expected to liberate the people. Instead, the power of the people must liberate politics.

I would encourage my judicious readers to read this “manual on politics and its challenges” that has intensely nourished my mind. It is a delicious platter of ideas, words, politics and the human spirit peppered with the scourge of selfish ambition and the ever present complexities of governing in a fast changing new world.

One thing I now realise is that Zimbabweans expect just too much from their politicians and have developed an exaggerated imagination of the power of politics and politicians in general.

This is a myth that has been sold to us over the last 34 years that only those who “liberated” the country can be our political leaders; the sad part is that we have begun to believe the lie. This lie has been manufactured only to secure incompetence, corruption and greed and to reward a liberation struggle predator coalition that continues to plunder our resources from all corners. This must stop and Grace can help us.

Our only problem here is that we do not know the power which we have to liberate our predatory politics. We continue to put politicians on a pedestal and expect them to come up with solutions. Even our churches have done the same. The result of this is that the future of our country will most likely continue to be in the hands of people with the calibre of Grace. Unless we liberate our politics, it will continue to be an albatross on our potential as a people.

In order for us to use our power to liberate our politics we all need to take responsibility and commit that we are the ones who are responsible for creating the conditions that we are facing now; we are the ones who created Mugabe and are watching him handover to his wife “Dr” Grace Mugabe as we sit and marvel at it in amazement and apathy.

Instead I really think we should cheer Grace on as she speaks truth to power and exposes what we have known all this time. Opposition parties should be encouraging her because they stand to benefit from a weakened Zanu PF. Instead I have read endless condemnations of events and have not seen a deeper analysis and appreciation of the good that may come out of all of this.

As Grace destroys Zanu PF, Zimbabweans have this opportunity to combine their people power and liberate the predator politics that has annihilated our country’s potential while entrenching a predator capitalist cabal that will continue to feed on our disunity and the pursuit of our narrow selfish ambitions.

Let us help her do something we have all failed for the last 34 years so that the truth about Zanu PF is exposed. Their greed theft and incompetence must be laid unembellished for all of us to see and be motivated for change. Let’s us not focus on Grace the messenger despite her shortcomings and realise that this is a unique opportunity to change Zimbabwe politics for ever.

I have recently looked at the constitutions of most of our opposition political parties in Zimbabwe and guess what, they are all the same. They all claim that they represent the wishes of the people, that the people come first, that they will create equity and economic prosperity, they will protect human rights, respect the Constitution, promote good health, create access to education for all, build roads and bridges, be transparent and accountable, fight corruption and all the good things that we wish for.

My question remains; if we have the same objectives as opposition political parties why are we not united in purpose and effort so that we can accelerate the achievement of a Zimbabwe that we all want?

We all know the answer to that; it is because we really have competing personal interest and motives and agendas that have nothing to do with using political power to the benefit of the people and deliver sustainable development.

It is therefore not for the benevolence of the country that most are involved in politics, but rather the thirst and aspiration for political power and status. That must stop.

As we move in 2015 with no end to Zanu PF’s incomprehensible audacity and greed for political power without responsibility. As we see incompetence like Grace’s rise with the full support of the predator coalition machinery we cannot afford to be spectators anymore; the opportunity to change can only be our responsibility.

I pray that God gives us the courage to unite and act and that he forgive us for doing nothing, but speculate and bicker among ourselves while Zanu PF kills our country.

You are wrong – we did not
create Migabe – the ZPF machine,
    greedy Generals, ruthless businessmen,
    created the monster.

The Military have kept this ‘politician’
in power, the ZPF goons have fixed the
    votes, so Elections are useless.

Therefore the statement that ‘the people
    must liberate politics’ is empty.
If we, ‘the people’, had FREE elections,
    FAIR campaigns, a VOTERS ROLL
and no THREATS, Mugarbage would be OUT!

I am in the opinion the writer has misunderstood Zimbabweans in general. Most know what the politicians are like and are powerless to act. Thus the exodus out of Zimbabwe to start the fight and start a new life. Nothing wrong with that. If Ian Smith had held onto power for this long I truly wonder where would we be today. Still traumatised by war ? What then has changed under Zanu?

All you in the opposition, you must be vigilant these days.
ZANU when they see that public eye is on them, they create a decoy to deflect public attention. Especially this time when they appear to be soiling themselves in public.

You must be prepared for an incident of appalling proportions, either accidents involving high profile person, So that you deflect attention towards new incident of such magnitude. Hence you may not see(you forget) this ZANU dramma.

    It is in their manual.

    Watch this space!!

I beg to differ guys. I think the writer is 100% right. Most of us Zimbabweans are armchair academic commentators, spectators, cowards who play victim at every given opportunity. Forget the rigging, the ruthless state machinery, the predatory ruling and political elite. What have we done or are doing to show that we are fed up with the predatory and patronage system of our handlers. They say people get a govt that they deserve. There was a time when colonialism was thought to be indispensable until some people had the guts to question that. They rose, vote and broke the chains of bondage. History is full of dictatorships more brutal than our own but there were people who broke the seemingly impossible. The the feudal lords and absolute monarchs of old europe with the support of the catholic church, slavery in all its forms and worst of all the trans atlantic slave trade, fascist and nazist regime of totalitarianism, apartheid regime and more recently the green revolutions of the north. Today the brave machos like Itai Dzamara who are saying lets take our leaders into account and make them answerable. But then you and I are afraid to join them out there. We are afraid of pain, of death, of losing the little that we have. Some even have nothing to lose but are still afraid of losing that nothing. Guess what no wonder why those who went to the war of liberation from colonialism feel they have the right to plunder and take everything. They are right to believe we all owe them for their bravity. They were the Itai Dzamaras of their time. They went out there to face all the weather elements while the rest were tucked in their beds, in the arms of their loved ones, in the protection of their homes. Our greatest enemy is fear Zimbabweans. Dont blame our handlers they have just but identified our weakness and made full use of it. I rest my case.

I agree with you fully Zimbabweans are too comfortable in foreign countries,as heartless as it sounds,if they could be forced to go home and face their problems at home, things will change faster for the better

Every nation has the leaders that it deserves. Or not ?

  • comment-avatar

Most of the opposition resemble the incumbents to me.What are they doing? They can’t even talk to each other. This nation needs to learn to forgive. Where is the man who will stand up and lead Zimbabwe into a future where we can be a nation; may the Lord Himself raise up such a man.

People have great power to stop anything else except God. So I totally and 100% agree that people should liberate politics. The colonialism and slavery ended by one ideology that is PEOPLE POWER. Oppressors can not hold hostage everyone who has managed to stand against opression. The problem is that people have common goal but are different risk takers. Politicians and dictators in general have managed to divide and persecute pockets of resistence as a way of intimidating the oppressed to insulate their effort and resolve. Until people realise this, the wrong will remain victorious. People need to realise that death does not kill, but fear kills.

If Grace is expose bad things from Zanu PF why has she targeted certain individuals as if they are the only corrupt ones in the party. She has been moving around with thieves known by even children that they have grabbed land and companies unlawfully. I’m not mentioning names but we all know them.Grace decided to team up with a certain faction and was showering praises to one of the most corrupt leader and castigating other leaders in front of their people. Is that right to do that if you are looking at correcting things. How can she lead the country when she’s so biased. She’s surrounded by power hungry people who are using her to attack other leaders hoping that they will gain support and form a government. We are not stupid, we know your motives. Mai Mukuru keep calm, we have your support. You shouldn’t be shaken by this stupid idea.

I agree that Zimbabweans did not create ZANU but they have and they continue to fertilize the ground conduicieve for ZANU and it failures to thrive. The Writer is spot on saying Zimbabweans expect a little too much from their Politicians, they run away from problems at home and ineffectively shout from foreign Lands, for change. They should in the forefront and the World behind them, unless that is done they can as well as forget about any kind of change

Mugabe was created by Ian Smith. From the end of WWII until liberation in 1980, the moderates were marginalized, criminalized, imprisoned and exiled. What remained thereafter were the radicals, the political brawlers and the demagogues.

Everything happens in its own time – slavery, colonialism, decolonisation, post-colonial kleptocracy and thuggery etc, and it’s the people, under the guidance of whomever they let, who are unfortunately accountable for their destiny, yet they cannot be defined aside from their leaders. Chiefs sold their people into slavery and in many cases granted concessions for the incursion of colonists. History is made by individuals riding on the backs of the people. In other words, personalities express themselves through the people. The more desperate the people are the more readily they can be manipulated by wayward personalities, and the more grotesque their character appears to other societies, which character owes its nature to that of their leaders. So it is not really proper (or complete) to accuse Zimbabweans of anything while letting their leaders off the hook. We have just been unfortunate to choose a leader who at the beginning appeared to champion our desires only to transform into a self-serving despot. It happens to the best of us.
