MDC official ordered to go home

CHIMANIMANI – As the MDC leadership war intensifies, party supporters apparently linked to Morgan Tsvangirai have launched a campaign against the organising secretary for Chimanimani, Pardon Maguta.

Unidentified party activists recently distributed pamphlets that accused Maguta of belonging to Tendai Biti’s Renewal Team and told him to “go home” to Masvingo province, which the activists claimed was his home.

They threatened Maguta with unspecified action and accused him of destroying the party.

“Pardon Maguta, you are from Masvingo. You have destroyed our MDC. Leave now for your own home because this area is for the Ndau people. We will fix you soon. We don’t want Mangoma,” read the flier, written in Shona.

Elton Mangoma is a high-ranking member of the Renewal Team, which has indicated that it will soon form an independent party but insists it is the rightful MDC after “expelling” Tsvangirai and other top members.

Tsvangirai recently discouraged his supporters from victimising rivals.

Now where is this “Anyone can live and work anywhere in Zimbabwe” nonsense that we people in Mthwakazi are always being lectured about when we raise our own issues of concern? So, in other parts of the country its “Go home”; but in Matebeleland, “anyone is free even to take poor menial jobs” from locals!!

The views of a few misguided Party zealots is not a basis for justifying tribalism. I will live and work wherever I want in Zimbabwe. I am mixed Zezuru,Ndebele and a touch of Ndau and Karanga. Nobody tells me I don’t belong anywhere within the borders of Zim.

When the land reform programme was being rolled out and people were submitting bankable proposals I was allocated a farm in Mash West. The PA in Chinhoyi told me straight to my face that since I wasn’t from the province , which you can tell from either surname or the first and last 2 digits on your id number I wasn’t welcome in the province and that was the end of it. Tribalism and regionalism is still an issue in Zimbabwe

The Shonas are the problem. They must get their act together!

They will not comment on this one, but will instead take cover because its a Shona vs Shona thing. When the truth outs like this, it is a bitter pill to swallow; because the notion of this “false unity” is once again shattered; as we see it everyday in the Mnangagwa vs Mujuru camps.

Had it been versus Matebeleland; rest assured – you would have seen pages and pages of comments of “go back to KwaZulu Natal”!!
