THE political circus in the Zanu PF Mashonaland West provincial executive took another twist yesterday amid reports that two-thirds of the 311 districts met on Saturday and reversed the no-confidence vote passed earlier on against provincial chairman Temba Mliswa.

Provincial secretary for administration Kindness Paradza yesterday confirmed the development, saying the resolution to overturn the decision was made during a provincial inter-district conference which discussed party programmes and other matters referred to them by the party’s central committee.

Mliswa was booted out a fortnight ago in a vote of no-confidence at a meeting hastily organised by 28 other members of the 50-member provincial executive committee at Chinhoyi University Hotel.

“The decision to reinstate Mliswa was made by more than two thirds majority where out of 311 party districts in Mashonaland West 236 districts were represented and out of 933 district delegates more than 700 delegates attended and, therefore, we had more than a full quorum,” Paradza said.

“We made very important resolutions where the province endorsed President Robert Mugabe as the sole candidate and First Lady Grace Mugabe as the sole candidate to lead the Women’s League, and the conference also overturned the vote of no confidence on provincial chairman Mliswa,” he said.

“The conference delegates, who make the electoral college made a decision that no other organ below it should pass a vote of no confidence on the provincial chairman Mliswa, the provincial Women’s League chairperson Constance Shamhu and the provincial youth chairman Vengai Musengi.”

Zanu PF spokesperson Rugare Gumbo last night said he was unaware of the latest developments.
