ALL posts serve for that of President and First Secretary and secretary for Women’s Affairs are open for contestation during the party’s National People’s Congress, the revolutionary party’s Secretary for Legal Affairs Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa said yesterday.
President Mugabe who resoundingly won the July 31 2013 harmonised elections has been confirmed as the sole presidential candidate, while the Women’s League overwhelmingly endorsed First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe to lead them.
Amai Mugabe is set to take over from the incumbent Cde Oppah Muchinguri at the Congress to be held in Harare in December.
Speaking at a function organised by his Wife Cde Auxillia Mnangagwa to discuss various issues affecting the party in Gweru yesterday, Cde Mnangagwa said Zanu-PF members must unite ahead of the congress. He slammed some members of the party who were plotting to topple President Mugabe.
“We are solidly behind President Mugabe. We want him to lead the country for as long as he can,” he said. “Every member of the party is free to contest for any post serve for the position of the President and First Secretary at the forthcoming congress. The two posts of the President and the secretary for Women Affairs have been filled,” he said.
“There are those who have been possessed by the demons, the Legion from the Bible, who want to oust President Mugabe.
“They must be exorcised. If these people are there who have the same sentiments, endai munobika doro muudze mudzimu wenyu kuti ko munondirasireiko?’’
The positions of the two Vice Presidents and national Chairman, Cde Mnangagwa said, we also up for grabs.
“The Politburo has resolved to increase the number of members of the Central Committee to 300 from 245.
“Of the 300 the first is President Mugabe. We now have 299 left. We have not agreed on who will be part of the Central Committee but the President will appoint 10 people. The positions of the two Vice Presidents are open for contestation,” he said.
Cde Mnangagwa said women did well by approaching Amai Mugabe to lead the Women’s league. “Dr Mugabe will nip factionalism. There was need for someone who is vigilant. Paidiwa munhu ane punch. Pamberi ne Mazowe Crush!” he said.
Cde Mnangagwa also called for peace and unity among senior party members ahead of the revolutionary party’s elective congress. Cde Mnangagwa said Zanu PF had encountered serious challenges before which it resolved amicably and decisively.
“I would like to urge our members of the party to be united. Ngatibatanei. Kubatana uku, kudanana uku, kuwirirana uku kunoita kuti musangano uenderere mberi. As Midlands, we must be united and also support those from our province. We must not be jealousy of each other, but we must support each other.
“I remember 1980 when we had just attained independence, President Mugabe summoned Ian Smith and reconciled with him before asking him to ensure the white community that they were not going to be brutalised now that there was majority rule. He summoned the service chiefs and asked them to incorporate members from Zanla and Zipra forces into the conventional army.
There was peace in the country because President Mugabe managed to bring the people together and maintain peace,” he said. Said Cde Mnangagwa; “Politics must lead the gun and not the other way round.
“President Mugabe is the one who started with the concept of national dialogue and reconciliation which the world talks about today.”

I get the feeling the Prezident is not doing his job. The faction leader is calling for peace when he is an interested part to the fighting. Elsewhere he says he is the most trusted by the Prezident. Who is fooling who here.
He praises ‘Mazoe crush’ which a faction and says vanhu ngavabatane, why does he not mention vanhu varikuda kubvisa Mugabe wacho. If Munangagwa was as clever as I was made to believe he then he would have just kept quite but he goes on to show his support for Grace who had earlier supported him thus suggesting their faction is the legitimate one.
Mr Mnanagagwa since Independence ZPF have brutalised the Ndebeles, the whites, the opposition and the general public of Zimbabwe. I don’t get your point. Why are you bringing up Pres Mugabe’s meeting with Ian Smith now. All those fine speeches and promises at independence have turned to ashes in our mouths. It is time for ZPF to go back and do a rethink. A big rethink. This nation needs healing, forgiveness and reconciliation. A white Zimbabwean farmer is still a Zimbabwean. A black Ndebele is still a Zimbabwean. An opposition member is still a Zimbabwe. Everyone of us has something to offer our nation. ZPF policies and the words spoken and the deeds done have done a lot of harm to this nation. Where is the peacemaker in ZPF? It is against God to divide your nation and cause hatred, bitterness and strife and that is what has happened. Above all we need repentance in Zimbabwe. From all of us. Lets pray for it. No repentance! No restoration!

practice what you preach….where is the reconciliation spoken about in 1980? not everyone follows the zanu ideology, we fought for democratic space, where is it now?
