THE Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has reportedly launched investigations into Zanu PF financier, Kudakwashe Tagwirei, and BancABC over allegations of connivance to commit fraud.

Tagwirei, owner of Sakunda Holdings, has been accused of funding former vice president Joice Mujuru who was ousted over allegations of plotting to illegally unseat President Robert Mugabe.

The RBZ probe follows submissions before the High Court where the businessman is being sued by BancABC for alleged non-payment of a $16 million loan said to have been advanced to him in 2011.

According to papers filed by Tagwirei and his Sakunda company, the businessman denies the bank ever gave him the money.

Instead, he admits conniving with the financial institution to sign an agreement indicating he owes BancABC $16 million so that they could balance their books for inspection by the RBZ.

“The plaintiff (BancABC) never advanced the full $16 266 606-79 as per clause 3 of the purported agreement. The fact remains that such monies never, and to the present day, reflected in the 1st respondents’ (Sakunda) bank account.

“The agreement (indicating $16 million debt) was signed with the plaintiff’s (BancABC) upon a specific request to assist it with balancing its audit books which were in areas.

“However the only money that the plaintiff advanced was just under five million dollars in cash,” read court papers filed by Sakunda opposing the banks litigation.

Tagwirei’s statement has now attracted the attention of the central bank.

The RBZ has since instituted a probe into the dealings of the bank.

Authorities are keen to establish how Sakunda connived to misrepresent to auditors that the company owed BancABC $16 million.

Assuming this zanu pf criminal is saying the truth: Do, we still for some imaginary economic sabotuers?

Isn’t it more than clear that that’s all zanu pf and and/or zanu pf fatcats’ fault? It is open secrete that there is know serious criminal roaming the streets in Zim with no serious zanu pf links – not even a single one. Its simply zanu pf impunity at work.

This rather unfortunate criminal may face the music now only becoz of his real or perceived Mujuru-connection. otherwise criminality is a virtue in zanu pf – clean people never last in that party.
