Where is Holland?

HARARE – A thick cloud of confusion is plaguing the MDC rebels after they ditched Sekai Holland as the interim leader.

The breakaway MDC’s national council meeting held at Mandel Training Centre in May placed the leadership of the party in the hands of the Guardian Council chaired by Holland.

But Holland was conspicuously absent at a weekend meeting where Tendai Biti emerged as the leader.

Holland told the Daily News in a telephone interview that she was never installed as interim leader.

“Nobody ever said Holland was the leader but what was mentioned at Mandel was that the Guardian Council will be custodians,” she said.

“There is nowhere it was said Mai Holland had accepted. Our position is that the Guardian Council wants unity. There is no way we can win elections divided.

“Why should people continue to say Holland because there are 30 people in the Guardian Council and our role is to go to congress, we are simply saying batanai tiende kuno (be united) winner.”

At a provincial meeting held in Harare on Saturday, Biti was presented as the outfit’s leader.

Jacob Mafume, spokesperson for the Renewal Team, said that there was nothing sinister about Holland’s absence.

“We haven’t ditched Holland,” Mafume told the Daily News. “She is still in the position the council (national) bestowed on her. A number of people did  not come to the meeting because they had other engagements.

“It was a Harare all-structures meeting. The person in charge of the meeting was Paul Madzore. He presided over that meeting.”

According to section 6.5.3 of the MDC’s constitution, the guardian’s council is tasked with offering advice to the national leadership, to carry out advocacy work and to conduct investigations, arbitrations and reconciliation in disputes within the party.

Holland said the guardian’s council was in the process of trying to unite the warring factions.

In 2003 the Americans led a multinational force (MNF) against Saddam Hussein. That was serious stuff as Tomahawks rained, warthog bombers strafed while the Abraham tanks swept the ground to a swift deposition of Saddam Hussein. Meanwhile the side show was stolen by Chemical the circus master. Chemical Ali claimed to the world invincibility of the Saddam Republican Guards. When finally the MNF got to Chemical Ali he was peeing on himself and pleading for leniency like a school kid. Obviously Chemical Ali was imagining a kindergarten type of game all along in his mind.

The same goes for this Jacob Mafume. Perhaps the difference with Mafume is that it appears appropriate for him to imagine mahumbwe because for person who went through formal school this type tom foolery is just beyond what is appreciable. Please we are discerning individuals who do not deserve this. The people you are talking to Mr jacob Mafume have brains and they can discern through childish propaganda.

ITS TOO LATE. NEITHER BITI NOR HOLLAND CAN SAVE THE PARTY WITH A HISTORY OF MITOSOS OR MULTIPLE FISSION. THE PEOPLE ARE TIRED HAVING SACRIFICED THEIR PRECIOUS LIVES FOR SELFISH PEOPLE LIKE TSVANGIRAI AND BITI. THEY CAUSED DAMAGE AND FAILED TO DELIVER. THESE DIVISIONS SHOW THAT LIKE ZUD, ZUM, FORUM ETC THE MDC HAS REACHED MENOPAUSE AND IS STUNTED AND HIGHLY SELF DESTRUCTIVE. I SUPPORT IBBO MANDAZA’S ANALOGY THAT THOUGH ZANU PF HAVE THEIR SINS THE POWER TO LEGITIMATELY RULE HAS BEEN THRUST UPON THEM BY MDC’S LACK OF VISION AND BLATANT SELFISH INDISCRETIONS. AS MANDZA SAYS THE ECONOMY MUST COME FIRST AND THE BICKERING LATER, IF AT ALL. AND INNEVITABLY ZANU PF MUST BE AT THE HELM UP TO 2023 FROM THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING. SO DO YOU THINK PEOPLE WILL WAIT UNTIL THE MDC STOPS ITS STUPIDITY WHILE THE ECONOMY COLLAPSES. LETS BE SERIOUS AND UNITE WITH THE DEVIL WE KNOW……THAN THESE FLIP – FLOPERS. NEXT TIME MANGOMA WILL BE LEAVING BITI. ARE ZIMBOS SO DAFT??

@JOHNSON Uniting with the devil we know will lead to destruction. How do you unite with a devil that keeps stealing, killing and cheating. A devil with no direction. A devil that practices what they said they fought against. A devil with a 90 year old leader who can’t stay awake. Mandaza is entitle to his own opinion as that is what he does. I am not at all impressed with all the sides of the MDC but Mandaza’s assessment is not correct. Nothing has been thrust on Zanu pf. They have forcibly held on to power. They lost an election in 2008 and refused to release results for months. Then they refuse the winners a chance to assume power. Nothing was thrust upon Zanu pf. If the truth be told they effective carried out a coup in 2008.This can be supported by statements from Munangagwa and the Security chiefs who were quoted on state controlled media to have said they will never allow the MDC to rule. That statement came to pass in 2008. For all thier faults if MDC had failed to perform they would have most likely lost the 2013 election, before they had a chance to do a Zanu pf.

@Doctor 100% agree with you. Zanu pf are not an option to take Zimbabwe forward. They are failures that have had 34 years and they still speak about teething problems. If you had a child with this problem you would seek medical advice. Zanu pf don’t care. They destroy a country and their leader still praises the people involved in the ministries as doing a good job. They steal and nothing is done. Can we be that desperate and except these animals as our permanent rulers? No. We must not stop our protests until the people are gone.
