winning Zanu-PF candidates must return to the electorate and remain accountable to them at all times, the revolutionary party’s national spokesperson Cde Simon Khaya Moyo has said.

Cde Khaya Moyo said this yesterday in his congratulatory statement for the party’s landslide victory in all the 16 constituencies contested in the Wednesday by-elections.

“Zanu-PF is elated by the landslide victory in all the 16 by-elections held in all affected constituencies. I congratulate all our candidates who won these by-elections. From the people they have come and to the people they must return, remaining accountable to the electorate at all times,” he said.

Cde Khaya Moyo urged the winning cadres not be carried away with celebrating their victory, but start working for the electorate.

“Work begins now to those who have won and celebrations must not become perennial. People are supreme as the saying goes: The voice of the people is the voice of God,” he said.

Cde Khaya Moyo said Zanu-PF is a people’s party with clear policies and programmes and indeed committed to unity, peace and development.

He said the party was grateful to all those who voted for the ruling party under the visionary leadership of President Mugabe as this was a clear demonstration that the MDC was dead and buried.

Cde Khaya Moyo said the MDC had been in the intensive care unit since the July 2013 harmonised elections and that its boycott of these by-elections was a mere confirmation of its demise.

MDC formations resolved not to participate in any national elections citing an uneven playing field and opting to do so when electoral reforms are in place.
