Zanu PF has infiltrated MDC-T structures to weaken the main opposition party by promoting divisions, the party’s arbiter-general has claimed.

MDC-T arbiter-general, Wilbert Musamirapamwe said in a report on internal clashes in Bulawayo that many problems within the party structures were a result of heavy infiltration by Zanu PF.
“We strongly suspect that the party has been heavily infiltrated by agents of its opponents,” read the report, which was reportedly being suppressed since last year.
“We were also told that some members are using money to hire thugs, who in turn denounce the party and its leadership. Those infiltrators could have easily joined the fray and increased the level of violence so as to soil the brand of the party. Our security has been grossly compromised.”
During intra-party contestations, officials also resorted to name-calling.
They were accusing each other of all sorts of things and labelling others State agents sent to destroy the party.
However, political analyst, Takura Zhangazha said although there maybe political infiltration, it was not an excuse for ineffectiveness.
“Infiltration alone does not cause any political party’s ineffectiveness, though it can contribute to laxity and lack of focus,” he said.
“In fact, political parties should always expect such sort of activities from their rivals and find ways of mitigating their effect and impact.”
The report also lampooned the abuse of the name of party leader, Morgan Tsvangirai in “sinister” activities that always caused resentment among members.
Party spokesperson, Obert Gutu said the arbiter’s report was a confidential document meant for the consumption of Tsvangirai alone.
He said it was possible for State agents to try and infiltrate them and at times come up with fake documents in a bid to destabilise the main opposition.
“I am not surprised at all. It is very possible that Zanu PF elements will try to infiltrate us. However, they are wasting their time because Morgan Tsvangirai is a very strong brand. He is tried and tested. They (CIO) cannot destabilise the party,” he said.
“They are chasing a mirage and they will not succeed in collapsing the MDC-T.”
Zanu PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Goodness me! OF COURSE Organised Crime will do everything in their power to destroy all opposition.
The various brands of MDC really should be aware of this. But look how fractured the MDC is? I would not be surprised if Organised Crime had a hand in this, stoking petty jealousies

Is it not the time to re brand MDC-Tsvangirai to something like MDC-Together.I believe that continuation of Mr Tsvangirai name on the party name is suicidal in the long run.
